    Mania - Chris Smits Dec 4, 2009

Michael Lark's artwork is great here but it's overshadowed by the events that take place. The scenes created by Bendis are so riveting and the blow-out between Dr. Doom and Osborne is just perfection. Normally you would think that that's more than enough grit for an issue but Bendis proves that line of thought wrong. As the reader gets past that and realizes the genius of what Loki is up to, the whole thing becomes an even more incredible read. To see such heavyweights have round one of what can only be the start of a bigger battle is a rare treat when it's given the solidity of character that Bendis has typed into every page. When combined with Thor #604, Siege: The Cabal is a powerhouse of a book. With absolutely no complaints at all, this issue gets a well deserved grade of an A+. There are several moments to choose from as far as best scene of the book and that's exactly my point. For superhero books it doesn't get much better than this and all we've seen are the villains so far! B Read Full Review

    IGN - Tim Lenaghan Dec 3, 2009

Overall Siege: The Cabal sets the stage for the main event quite well. Bendis' story left me with just the right amount of questions while still providing an enjoyable one-shot story. It's evident that Norman is clinging to his favorable public image by a thread, and with pressure mounting against him, a return to the Goblin glider can't be far behind. Read Full Review

It may just be relief at seeing the story move forward, and it's too soon to render any judgments, but The Siege is off to a promising start. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Dec 6, 2009

Siege The Cabal One-Shot was a good read but is not a required for people who are going to read Siege. This was a filler issue just to tell us that Siege is going to involve Norman attacking Asgard which Marvel already revealed back when this event was announced. So you can pass on this issue and pick up Siege #1 without missing anything as Bendis has made the first issue of the event new reader friendly, from the preview we get. Still if you are a Norman Osborn and/or Doctor Doom fan pick this issue up if you have an extra $4 to spend as it is a good read. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Chad Nevett Dec 2, 2009

As a prologue to "Siege" and the turning point of "Dark Reign," "Siege: The Cabal" works quite well. While there are some convenient storytelling choices, like never seeing how Osborn's secret weapon is directly, it's a good way to kick things off. "Siege" is apparently the last of the big Marvel events for a while and it's looking good so far. Read Full Review

It's an entertaining issue with very solid character work, but it could've been more. Read Full Review

As I said, these are all relatively minor problems in the grand scheme of things, and I certainly won't write Siege off immediately as a result of them. However, it does sap some of the energy and the immediacy from this issue of setup, leaving the core Siege miniseries with a lot of work to do if it's to get the event off to a strong start. The Weekly Crisis - Kirk Warren Dec 3, 2009

Give this a look at the shop or check a few scans in the upcoming Moments of the Week. There's nothing really to see here and all you need to know is the Cabal had a spat, Osborn and Loki caused a Civil Warlike incident using Volstagg and some Dlist villains and now we get another major event. Lark's art and how Doom strikes back at Osborn are probably the only really good parts to this issue and not worth buying for. Read Full Review
