Two out of three isn't bad for the trio of tales in this special. The first story is standard comic book fare featuring Samuel L. Jackson's iconic Jedi. The second story is the highlight of the issue with the focus on Asajj Ventress. The final tale is a poor outing for Rex and Jar Jar. Worth picking up if one is a Star Wars fan. Read Full Review

There's nothing particularly bad about Star Wars: Age of Republic: Special #1. Unfortunately, there's nothing particularly good either. It's simply a mildly entertaining collection of forgettable Star Wars tales. Read Full Review
Age of Republic Special #1 is another miss for the series and leaves behind the themes and focus of the regular issues. The first story " Mace Windu's " is the best and most complete, but the others are wasted potential or lacking potential altogether. Three different artistic teams deliver three different levels of quality and, again, Mace Windu's mission is the only one that impresses. None of them are good enough to make this a must-read. A great mix of stories with awesome artwork in each one. I'm a big fan of The Clone Wars TV show, so I loved all the references to it.
Not as good as the standalones, which are already pretty short to begin with, but these stories are even more condensed. I'd say that the Ventress one is the best one.
