Somewhere in the Anoat System Moff Adelhard has told all his troops that the rumored deaths of Darth Vader and the Emperor are not true. He is hoping that this lie will help him retain power for the Empire in whatever form that may take. He has a mysterious group of Acolytes on his side and will do whatever it takes to win the war. It will be interesting to see how Segura weaves the story into the already established canon told in Star Wars: Aftermath novel trilogy. Read Full Review

    Geek'd Out - Cameron Kieffer Oct 9, 2024

While the first chapter of this era doesnt start out as strong as the first volumes of Star Wars or Darth Vader, the creative team has produced a solid opening chapter that will definitely have readers clamoring to find out what happens next. Scattering the legacy characters into various directions means each of our heroes will get their moment to shine eventually, even if we may have to wait, while the new heroes and villains are interesting enough to warrant their greater page-time. Seguras willingness to play in lesser-known areas of the sandbox creates opportunities to tie-in other stories without distraction. Fans of the Aftermath novels will delight in the inclusion of Yupe Tashu and the Acolytes, but Insurgency Risingdoesnt require any homework in order to understand and enjoy the latest tale in the ever-expanding Skywalker Saga. While there isn't much action-wise for this issue but it is a promising start. We're going to see fan favorite characters in Luke, Han & Leia and a villain that it appears might be on a level of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Segura has big shoes to fill when it comes to Star Wars comic storytelling, but if he keeps this up he might be able to be among Charles Soule and Cavan Scott as great story tellers in Star Wars. So far, it's a great start and I'm very excited to see where this goes. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke Oct 2, 2024

A new era of Star Wars comics is finally kicking off today, and it's exciting to see new ground being established. A new threat die-hard Star Wars fans will recognize rises while our heroes forge new paths after Return of the Jedi. I want to be more excited, but the stakes don't seem all that high as of yet.
