• Caleb Dume enters the Clone Wars for the first time!
• He and his new Master Bilaba take command of a Clone troop...
• And face one of the most deadly Serparatist generals...GRIEVOUS!
This is what a Star Wars comic should be. An undeniably cool story with luscious artwork. Absolutely recommended. Read Full Review
As the arc moves on it hits some welcome points in showing more of Caleb's early years and his first experiences as a padawan in the field. There's a lot of material that can be explored here in giving us more of a taste of the Clone Wars and I'm fine with that – though part of me hopes for more Clone Wars material separate from the Rebels characters at some point. At the same time, I also want more of Caleb as he takes on the name Kanan and moves forward in his life, so it's a conflict of lots of things I want this book and other books to be. Weisman continues a solid narrative here, drawn out just a touch perhaps, that gives us a better look at some of what Caleb went through before it all turned to crap. Larraz's work continues to be strong here, though I do find his non-Rebels pages to be the better material overall as the Rebels designs just don't translate that well into what's presented here for tone and style. Kanan #9 is yet another fantastic installment to this fun Star Wars: Rebels prequel, as despite the story getting off to a rather poor start, it has definitely found its feet over the course of these last couple of issues. It also gives us plenty to look forward to as we move into the next chapter, and all I hope is that it at least maintains this pace moving forward. Read Full Review
While the new Star Wars movie is out this week you also can grab the latest issue of "Kanan." Set in the Clone Wars, this issue works on his master, Depa, and her reimaging. The comic also grows a bond between Kanan and the clones, which is important when Order 66 hits. The characters are well-defined and provide a level of complexity that helps this ordinary story stand out a little more. With detailed artwork that highlights the action and compliments the character's personalities, you have a winning formula. I enjoyed this comic book and definitely enjoyed the new Depa and her Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon qualities. If you like the Clone Wars then this is a good comic to pick up. Read Full Review

A fun issue that was a joy to read, I loved Stance and the friendship he shared with Kanan. Pepe Larraz's art is amazing like always, his clone troopers in particular look very cool.
