With the direction of the book nicely sidetracked away from the Avengers Vs. X-Men storyline for a while, it looks like Uncanny X-Men will be climbing back up in my estimations. I've mentioned before that Gillen flourishes when given free rein on event tie-in books, and as usual, he doesn't fail to disappoint. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Rob Rasmussen Jun 26, 2012

Much like last issue, Uncanny X-Men #14 manages to tell a good, stand-alone story while still being involved in the overall plot that is AvX. Gillen does a great job with establishing Sinister's current status quo while mixing in a few great jokes; the castle and one about him looking nothing like the imposter. Add to this the fact that the purpose of the rebel was telegraphed almost from the start and Uncanny X-Men #14 earns itself a very respectable 4 out of 5 stars. Read Full Review

    IGN - Joshua Yehl Jun 20, 2012

Dustin Weaver's pencils are sound, but it's Jim Charalampidis's faded color palette that sets the excellent Victorian-era look for the book. An issue featuring the brightly colored battles of the X-Men might not have worked as well in this style, but the open countryside and sprawling Sinister London have a painterly look to them that show the influences of Sinister's mindset on his new world. Melded with this dated look are sparse instances of glowing futuristic technology which all work well, save for the the journalist's coat. It looks like he stole it off the set of Tron: Legacy. This is a fantastic issue and a great behind the scenes look at what Sinister is as an enemy. There are no X-Men in this issue, and it serves to illustrate, with a story about insurrection among Sinister's clones (or whatever), just how great an enemy that he is to the X-Men. Fantastic all-around job by Gillen and Weaver. Gillen is doing a great job with this series!
