. Once again, the creative team behind War of Kings delivers an amazingly wellexecuted issue that does a great job of balancing a huge cosmic war with personal character issues. Despite some logical missteps and an assumption that I read all of the tiein issues, Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning continue to prove they belong with the elites of the comic book writing world while Paul Pelletier's growth as an artist is on full display here. It may not have taken the Top Spot this week, but this issue is still a book you shouldn't miss under any circumstances. Read Full Review
Yes, the vaunted perfect score. Remember what I said in the intro about this series not quite reaching the levels of awesomeness the original Annihilation obtained? After this issue, I think War of Kings has reached that level! Read Full Review
Great action, lots of character moments and, ignoring the odd way Abnett and Lanning moved us to the endgame with the TBomb, the promise of the final showdown next issue has me dying to find out what happens next. Read Full Review
So while I wish Vulcan wasn't such a putz, almost every other facet of this series has been and continues to be very strong. The art is gorgeous, as always. Paul Pelletier is turning in some of his best work with War of Kings. The characters and conflicts feel real and important. This is a story that could have been simplistic to a fault, but the entire creative team have molded it into something much more. I can't wait for the final chapter. Nor can I wait to learn what comes after. Read Full Review
Minor complaint aside, War of Kings #5 was an excellent read. It is such a treat to read an event where the creative team involved are not worried about telling the most complex story or the biggest slugfest ever. Instead, DnA are only looking to give us a quality read. DnA have put on a clinic with War of Kings. If you have not jumped on the Marvel cosmic bandwagon yet then I strongly recommend reading War of Kings when it comes out in trade format. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait for the final installment of War of Kings next month. Read Full Review

After everything that has occurred from the death of Lilandra to the marriage of Crystal and Ronan, this series has changed the Marvel Universe. With one more issue and an epilogue slated, it is a certainty that Abnett, Lanning and Pelletier will make a few more changes to the composition of the Marvel Universe cosmos. I, for one, am anxious to see what those changes are. Read Full Review
War of Kings 5 is once again another perfect installment of Dan Abnett’s cosmic saga. After the death of Lilandra, the Inhumans have one last desperate plan, which involves Black Bolt sacrificing himself to use his voice and annihilate the Shi’ar fleet. This issue also had a sweet conversation between Ronan and Crystal, and I’m really beginning to enjoy them as a couple. Art was tremendous as usual
