Carey's plot and character work shine in this issue, making up for any negatives found in his script. And while I'm not enamored of Clay Mann's suitability to the story found here, he is certainly not a bad artist by any stretch. Are there “louder” X-Men titles out there? Yes, but Legacy continues to be solidly well-done and that should count for something. Read Full Review

Clay Mann's art is generally solid. His characters carry a sense of mass and motion that too many books lack. However, his renderings aren't entirely consistent in their level of detail, particularly when it comes to wide shots. Legacy's current arc is moving a touch too slow, but it succeeds in providing X-readers with a strongly character-driven focus that only X-Factor is able to match. Read Full Review

Part of the point of doing more than one X-Men book is to specifically focus on different aspects of their mythology. I realize that Legacy is consciously trying not to feel the same as regular X-Men, but I still prefer that title to this. Aside from some personal issues with the plot of this story, I was actually pretty pleased with how well written it was. Carey did a solid job of developing the characters and their relationships, which is a major plus. If there was something to balance out the negative image of Indian culture and a stronger showing from the art, this could've easily been one of the best books I picked up this week. At the end of the day, "X-Men Legacy" #239 feels like a rough draft that needed another polish before going live. Even some of the finer details have mistakes that could have used an editor, like Magneto's name of "Erik Lehnsherr" being misspelled as "Eric Lensherr." This issue is an unfortunate misstep by most parties involved. Let's hope it stays an atypical end result and the book is back to normal next month. Read Full Review
