OverallThis was a solid issue that builds on last month's story while once again introducing the deadly Thoth-Amon. The encounter between Conan, Zula, and this formidable sorcerer is brilliantly played out, with genuine moments of tensionmost notably when Conan comes close to killing Amon, only to have his intent cut short as Amon regains control and ends the meeting. The issue closes on a gripping cliffhanger: Athyr-Bast has managed to free herself and sound the alarm, putting Conan and Zula in immediate danger and ending their ability to move undetected. This issue continues to show the world's greatest barbarian at his best.I am totally all in on this series and look forward to seeing what comes next.
Another great issue from Jim Zub. I like the twist that came in this issue. I was worried that this would be a traditional gladiatorial uprising story. I liked the undercover aspect of this, and that there is a loose strand in Bast having escaped. Unlike writers from DC and Marvel, I love how Zub can tell a story in 5 issues or fewer. Looking forward to the next issue.
