Fred Van Lente and Emanuela Lupacchino have crafted a brilliant and beautiful story. One that is witty, fun and packed with tremendous action. Valiant Comics is doing something bold hereThey are taking great stories and great characters and crafting each book into something very different from your everyday superhero story. Emanuela Lupacchino handles pencils this issue, with inks by Guillermo Ortego and colors courtesy of Matt Milla. Things look slick and everyone really seems to click. The art has a smooth, finished look that makes this an easy read. If there is one standout point, it's Milla's colors, which are simply stunning. Scene transitions work perfectly thanks to shifts in color and tone. Archer & Armstrong #8 is just a good comic book. Valiant knows how to do it and do it well. Read Full Review
This issue displays a lot of what makes this title exceptional, we’re dealing with extremely high stakes dealt with in a low stakes manner, but done with style. The ridiculously silly is balanced with the right blend of action and suspense giving us a unique title unlike anything out from the “Big Two” and unique even among Valiant’s own books. ARCHER & ARMSTRONG is the only A.A. I need and you'll be able to say the same after reading this issue! (If you do have a serious problem with alcohol, or Archer & Armstrong, please seek advice from a doctor and not a comic book reviewer) We're building up to something big here, and it's pretty darn exciting. The twist in the climax of "Archer and Armstrong" #8, when Archer comes face to face with Zorn, is heavily foreshadowed. However, the exact details are still surprising. The last page has an excellent cliffhanger that involves the fate of the Geomancer, and seems to aptly sum up how "Archer and Armstrong" is a consistently entertaining buddy comedy with an unusually fine sense of setting and internal mythology.
