Pere Perez is given much to work with here. Van Lente has added a multidimensional aspect of the book to go along with "simple" time-travel, which enables Perez to create visually striking scenery and character designs. Overall, Ivar, Timewalker #9 is a great start to the latest arc. For anyone that still needs a reason to pick this up, just let this idea soak in: pirate clowns. Read Full Review
Ivar, Timewalker #9 is an exciting issue that delivers with big answers connecting the start of this series with recent developments. The way Ivar's decision at the start of this issue setting off the chain of events is portrayed wonderfully sets the tone throughout even though there is plenty of humor later. I've been enjoying this ride not entirely sure where it was heading but now that it seems like everything is coming full circle I'm more excited than I've ever been about the future of Ivar. Or is it his past? Read Full Review
It's no secret to any who have read any of the reviews I've written aboutValiant‘s offerings over the past few months that I've become a fan of the publishers comics, often recommending that you read or buy them as and when you can; this issue is absolutely no exception to that rule. This is Ivar, Timewalker at its best: touching, humorous, sharp, and above all, fun. Things are dire, but that doesn't mean they need to be DIRE! Reversing roles is the name of the game this issue, in more ways than one. Perspectives shift, change is inevitable, and learning to accept what can and cannot be altered in time and ourselves is questioned. What's next? If it's up to the creative team, it might be this: Read Full Review
Ivar, Timewalker #9 marks the beginning of a brand new direction, as with Ivar sacrificing himself at the end of the last issue, it is up to Neela to explore time in a new fashion. This is intertwined with some intriguing twists that are bound to lead to something memorable, if not exciting. Read Full Review
I feel like perhaps this issue is intended to be a jumping-on point for new readers, and that's the reason so much of the book is devoted to explaining the high-concept ideas that have been explored in the previous eight issues. Ironically though, Ivar, Timewalker #9 ends up being the weakest and most confusing instalment in this series to date, and may well turn away rather than entice those looking to get into this series. This is a great shame as I do really love this book, and previous issues have been truly phenomenal; I only hope that it returns to that level of quality with next month's instalment. Read Full Review
