Punk Mambo #4 is the penultimate chapter of this mini-series and it certainly sets up one helluva climax. We've already gone through a whirlwind of terror. Judging by the cliffhanger ending, things are going to get crazy with the final issue. This book has explored the darker side of the Valiant Universe through the lens of an arrogant yet multi-faceted character. I hope this leads to further adventures with Punk Mambo in the near future. Reading Punk Mambo gives us the sense that there are an unlimited number of ways to write about and reconstruct the worlds that comic books might reflect on the page. That sense of expansiveness and the uncanny otherworldliness of Punk Mambo can (and should) be credited to the written craftsmanship of one of the comic world's most valuable scribes, Cullen Bunn. Simply put, Cullen Bunn and Adam Gorham have just raised the bar yet again for what promises to be the gold standard for Punk Mambo stories.
