This book seems to step out of the shadow of super-heroics and it takes advantage of a grounded story, as grounded as they can make it be Justin Jordan can make it be. The main goal was to figure out the source of the Shadowmen's power, and that much was found out, everything else was a plus. When I put this book down I just could not find anything bad to say about it, no problems at all. As Shadowman's first year in the Valiant Universe, it's a story like this which really makes you appreciate what they have to offer and this is one book you should definitely be following if you're a fan of Valiant Comics. I know this is a part two of the beginning in the zero issue, but it stands alone as a one shot. I'm really not into magic comics or stories in general but this one has to be my favorite of the few I have read. Great heroes with powerful villains and just great artwork through and through. Unfortunately, once again, Shadowman suffers in the art department. This issue is drawn by Diego Bernard, Andrea Cuneo, Mico Suayan, Lewis La Rosa and Carmen Nunez. It's inked by Alejandro Sicat, Stefano Gaudiano, Brian Level and Carmen Nunez with colors by David Baron and Matt Milla. As you can imagine, that many artist results in some dramatic shifts in tones throughout the issue. Some pages look great, some look okay. Some are dark and brooding, some aren't. Nobody does bad work here, but this series could really benefit from a stable art team. Or at least maybe just like only two artists and two inkers? Shoot for that first and go from there. While the story is great, the art stumbles in this issues. Like some of the previous issues, Shadowman #10 simply has too many pencilers and inkers. The result is an issue that feels uneven and cobbled together. None of the art is bad, in fact much of it is quite good, but the sheer amount of different artists leads to an inconsistent art style. Luckily, the two colorists on this issue, David Baron and Matt Milla, manage to create a semblance of consistency throughout. However, even the colors switch from page-to-page in some instances, particularly with the Darque twins' eye colors. If it wasn't for the fact that the twins have pale white skin the change might not have been so distracting, but as one of their main features the change from golden brown to icy blue was quite noticeable. Art work aside, this is an excellent series to get into. The characters are extremely well fleshed out, and all very likable. Justin Jordan continues to be an under the radar talent in the industry, but if he keeps putting out issues like Shadowman 10, hell be a big name soon. Read Full Review
