Though it's a bit of a departure from the main storyline of the series so far, this is a fun issue. It's a good “done in one” type story and really gives a good idea of who Jack is and just what sort of city New Orleans is. I don't even really want to call it a fill-in issue because it doesn't seem like a fill in issue, due to the quality of the story and art. Overall great story which set Jack up with a new ally, supposedly, and served as an entertaining distraction from all that has occurred up to this point. If you are someone who finds they are on the fence about picking up this book, do so and read this as it's a standalone story that's perfect for new readers. Read Full Review

Some may find the book's tone a little light. This story is more Buffy the Vampire Slayer than American Horror Story. But it's juxtaposition of humor to the horror in that makes this such a enjoyable read. Shadowman#11 is just a fun comic. Treat yourself to it. Read Full Review
For an issue that's supposed to be a bump and a skip before the next creative team takes over, it did its job. It also toned down the drama and intensity of the series which is something I think it needed after the last eleven issues (I'm counting the zero issue). If you're a fan of the series than it's worth checking out and sticking with until the next issue, but if you are a new reader I don't think this represents what Shadowman is all about at its core, this was more surface level. I would check back on the next issue since it's going to be very different in style and theme. Read Full Review
The art doesn't help much either. Miguel Sepulveda's characters always look awkwardly staged and posed. His Shadowman actually looks pretty good, and he draws some great looking demons, but since nearly every scene is played for laughs, there is a big disconnect. Zub and Sepulveda are working on two different books, apparently, never quite getting on the same page. Sahdowman is in a sad state, which hopefully will turn around when the new creative team jumps in. In the meantime, you might want to check out some of Valiant's other titles, 'cause those are great. I feel like Shadowman #11 was a missed opportunity for something much darker and more directly connected to the main plot and one of the few misses from Valiant. This is a one-shot Halloween special at it's best. It's fine and I had fun with it but overall I felt it lacked punch and falls flat. It's Jack fighting off some spirits from the Deadside, again fun, but does it really lead to something bigger? I hope so. If you just want a decent Halloween story then by all means Shadowman #11 will do the trick but I don't see it as a jumping on point for new readers either. It could have been worse but it could have been a whole heck of a lot better. Read Full Review

Pretty terrible. I like Skullkickers but Zub pitched this Halloween one shot all wrong, and Sepulveda's art impressed less here than in Red Lanterns. Plus Dr Mirage's introduction is a fist full of blah.
