X-O Manowar #40 is a strong follow-up to last issue, and drastically raises the stakes of the Vine coming to Earth by revealing hidden Vine plantings sent ages ago with their own agenda. And restoring the command back to Aric makes his difficult position clearer as he tries to maintain the peace and deal with the concerns of his people. Commander Trill is a welcome addition making the Vine's choice in light of recent events possibly more complicated. And now that the stage is set in a more meaningful (and enjoyable) way, I'm looking forward to seeing what's ahead for all parties involved. Read Full Review
X-O Manowar #40 shows you that a lot of action is in store for us as things will inevitably escalate, but you must look past that to see the importance of the true story being told. We are steadily reaching an end to this run and there is no better time to be following the adventure of Aric as he tries to keep those he loves safe, as well as the world he has sworn to protect. As far as the story itself goes, I can't say that I was genuinely surprised by how well the story carried on, because that would be a bit of a lie; what I will say, however is thatX-O Manowar #40met my already high expectations for the issue, which is something I'm excited about.I'm not going to say much more about the story as I'm afraid of giving too much away for those who are yet to read it, but I'm really enjoying the arc so far, and I can't wait to see where it ends up. Sandoval, Tarragona and Arreola's art is strong as usual. The focus they place on characters and technology is nice and generally well-defined, though the lack of backgrounds leaves some panels a bit cold. With X-O's continual shipping schedule, I would much rather have some lean backgrounds and an on-time comic however. Read Full Review

I said in my last review that X-O is one of those series that you can kind of jump on and off of. I'm just beginning again with "Exodus", but I don't feel lost. I don't feel confused. Even if you missed the last issue, there's enough of the story recapped through realistic dialogue that you'd be able to catch up with the story. If you want to see a successfully executed space story taking place on earth then check out X-O Manowar, it's the space book other series are trying to be. Read Full Review
