The story doesn't so much end as move on " Michael's life is going to continue, with him doing good in the little ways he's chosen. That's the beauty of Astro City. It's a series without a main character, because its main character is its city and the people in it both spectacular and human. Read Full Review

The issue deals with the conflict in the group led by the woman who refused to believe Michael's story and the others who were confused by it. There's healing here, but no quick fixes (despite what the Hanged Man offers). Like always, Astro City reminds us it's a complicated world out there in this fitting finale. Must-read. Given that cover, I thought this would be heartbreaking. It's not. It's still good, but not what I expected.

I know exactly what you mean, Simon. I saw that cover and thought; "Oh, cool! He ends up with a Miranda from another dimension who lost her version of Michael. What a great end to the series." But no, that wasn't the story. I still love Astro City, but the ending was anti-climatic.

I can't see Busiek giving Michael a happy ending. Not his style.
