The issue I have with the series is that the plot is not moving along fast enough. This was a solid issue and I think the last 3-4 issues have been really strong. Glad this gets published frequently, otherwise the pacing might be more of a problem.
"OVERWHELMED."
Kyle is alone facing one of his most dangerous exorcisms to date. This one won't be pretty.
I thought this was one of the strongest issues of the series so far. I have rated other issues far worse. I am not sure why this one is being rated poorly.
The gates are open. Hell is coming to Earth.
Cinder Byrnes has been trying to lie, cheat, and steal his way into wizardry his entire life, and he's finally got the key to unlocking the power of magic. What a set up!
When your twin is the evil half of a dead witch that can control monsters and the undead, a joyful reunion just isn’t in the cards—which means there’s only one option for Emmy: war!
The writing in this book feels very focused. I am thinking about "Wolf" as I write this, because there are some similarities, but this seems like it will be much more consistent. The art is really solid too. The characters look great and the style is a fresh take on a limited color palette. The amount of story by length is very satisfying as well.
BOOK 1: AWAKENING, PART 2 of 5
Rowan considers a spark, a hand, a body.
Major Plot Point:
An important new character is introduced.
This Little Light. Kyle is faced with the most emotional exorcism he's performed yet... as he begins to learn more about his abilities and what's REALLY happening around him. The pieces are starting to fall into place as secrets are revealed that will change everything.

This series is such a slow burn. I am often worried that it gets cancelled when it comes out less frequently. Ellis clearly has a lot of story to tell and this book would probably be a bit easier to approach if you are new to it and curious, in the trade form. The issues are pretty short and tend to advance the story slowly, but the art and writing is solid enough to keep me interested.
People are going to die for what happened after the Tree landed on Manhattan.
This is just a stellar book all around. Every character they introduce has depth and grit and a unique world view. Every character has conviction and purpose. I have been reading this since the first issue and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Deep in the woods of Craw County lives a man who may be even more dangerous than Coach Boss. He hunts with a bow. Handles snakes. Hates football. And has just been given a special mission from God.
I reread the whole series thus far after reading this one. There is an awful lot going on in this book so far and I was prepared for some confusion coming off of the way Zero ended. All in all, I think this series is good so far but I am wondering if there is some sloppiness in Kot's writing this time around. The back story of Wolfe and the vampire became clearer in this issue, especially aftermore
