Tom King delivers an amazing story filled with twists, turns and moral quandaries. What more could you ask for? This book centers around a band of characters I didn't know or care about (even Kyle Rayner). By the end I cared. Kyle has one of the most badass moments in comics. Seriously if you want a well written story with oodles of symbolism and inner turmoil go out and buy this. |

Wonderful story and the history of the series keeps getting uniquely woven into the story in unexpected ways. It serves the nostalgia kick as well as making great analogies to problems we have today and philosophical issues. |

A compelling first issue that will warrant getting #2. The ski-fi world is different yet familiar with a interesting villain. |

If you're into horror comics, you'd likely like this more than myself. I thought the story was compelling enough that I may get the second issue. The story telling was well done. |

The art in this comic is dynamite! However, overall, I think this comic is average or slightly above average. I LOVE these characters and seeing them in action. Parker wrote a magnificent initial volume of Future Quest and this picks up where that series ended. This issue did not grab me as much as the issues in the initial series but I'm definitely along for the ride and I'm sure Parker will pick up the pace with a killer plot. |

This is just getting more confusing. I'm going to keep going to see if it pays off. It could be a really awesome payoff to make this a great series or it could end up being a big ball of Meh. |

This series has taken a turn that I find uninteresting as it focus' more on Emiko. If someone is into that character I'm sure this was much more interesting. |

The Thing and Human Torch are still roaming around NYC dealing with the absence of Reed, Sue, and the kids the best they can. I find this tiresome since they've been doing that in Marvel 2-in-1 for nearly a year now. Ben and Johnny have also been traveling across the multiverse trying to find them. There's a lot of nodes to the past, which I found nice. Medusa and Crystal both spoke about the absence of half the family. There's a silly nod to the Yancy Street Gang, which were some punk kids. I found 2 touching moments in the story; one with flashback of Johnny singing the family back to the city using an alien object and second with Ben proposing to Alicia. The later was particularly touching because Johnny took it as a sign of Ben giving up on finding the rest of the family. He wasn't wrong to take it that way, however, it was a bit of a dick move to ruin the happiness of Ben and Alicia when they told Johnny. The last page of the story leaves you with a nod that Reed, Sue, and the kids are alive somewhere in the multiverse. The Dr. Doom backup had Doom returning to his castle and listening to an intruder about what Latveria needs. This did not feel like Dr. Doom to me. He was pointlessly crushing his Doombots and other military bots. Granted, Doom does through tantrums and he's certainly capable of this. However, there was a weird scene with him casting off his armor but keeping the mask. The intruder even suggested that he put the mask back on. It all seemed forced. I don't think Doom would listen to an intruder like that. Maybe there's a reason that hasn't been revealed yet. Doom has been through some weird changes without Reed around. Overall, this should have been an issue that KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF. It didn't. Instead, I'm left with a feeling of, at best, MEH. I didn't get to see the whole family together, which the there's a last page comic that makes fun of that fact. MARVEL! IT'S NOT ENOUGH THAT YOU KNOW WHAT WE WANT AND THEN MAKE FUN OF IT!! If Marvel is going to pull a dick move like that I feel inclined to pull my money from supporting their comics. Marvel has been doing a lot of promising lately and doing very little delivery of those promises. I want to read some of the characters you publish. Give me a reason to keep buying them. Holding my back from what I want is not a way to keep me around. |
