Excellent conclusion to the Koga Thun story. After a nice Goonie's nod, Conan comes face to face with the wizard, lots of decapitation. There's an awesome splash page at the end, the art style is very sketchy, takes some getting used to, but ends up working. Can't wait for the next arc. |

I'm liking this. Mysterio is the perfect bumbling villain. I like his sad attempts at becoming relevant. Really looking forward to what happens next and the addition of Electro. |

I've never read a Green Lantern book. I picked this up out of curiosity, and because Morrison was the writer. It was like jumping off the high dive for the first time; a huge splash, then some disorientation while I figured out which way was up. The art grabbed my attention at the beginning, the style is definitely a throwback and gave me a lot to look at. Then I started getting the hang of the "flow" of the writing and it got interesting by the end. My only question is, is GL a serious book, or does it have a tongue in cheek sense of humor. Either way, I'll grab #2 and see how this plays out. |

Acts of Evil: Moon Knight Annual #1

I don't read Moon Knight, but I love Kang so I picked this up. Pretty good story, straightforward, good progression. I think stories with Kang get railroaded though and end up following the same pattern, or maybe it's time travel stories. Either way, this was enjoyable, the art was good, although Kang seemed to buff up in a few panels. I thought the building with a Kang statue at the top was quite narcissistic in a funny way. Poor guy, he never wins. |

I've been out of Batman for a while, but wanting to get back in. I read this last night, yeah the jokes were corny, but I really didn't think that was the point. The jokes, the fight with the mummies, all was a distraction while we watched KGBeast prepare. I think it was clear what was going to happen, but I was still surprised/shocked by the last page. Thats a good thing. The art was mostly good except for a couple scenes that looked like they where the characters looked like they were copy/pasted onto a generic "Gotham" background. In all, I was entertained by the book, even if Batman was too gloomy. I'd like to see how things progress. |

The Prodigal Sun: Fantastic Four #1

I was excited to read this, Peter David writing sounded like a safe bet. Once I started reading though, it was goofy. Lame jokes and clunky interactions between characters. The whole thing felt rushed. It sort of got good towards the climax scenes, where it got a little more serious, but then the FF are just like, “sure stranger, you can have OUR space ship”. Hopefully it gets a little more serious in the next issue. |

The Prodigal Sun: Silver Surfer #1

SO much better than the first issue, this read very smoothly and the art was consistent throughout. Nice gratuitous splash page of Galactus. The dialogue wasn’t as sophomoric and clumsy as the first issue and I liked that the seemingly invincible Prodigal was put down by the Surfer, leading to some pent up brotherly revenge in the next issue. |

I picked up Plunge because of the concept, which after reading issue 1, spot on, good intro. But......DILDOS? Really?? Come on, was that just because it's "Black Label"? So edgy. If you remove that scene and the following jokes, it wouldn't be missed. Unneccessary. |

Better than #1, this issue drops a little more horror from different directions. So far following the cosmic horror template to a T. Hopefully they plan on throwing some twists in. Immonen's art seems almost too clean in a few panels, but gets gritty when needed. Solid enough to stay on for #3. |

Naomi #6

It’s hard to follow. I don’t mean the overall story, I mean each panel and the dialogue. It’s choppy, hyperactive. It sounds like a 40 year old trying to write teenage dialogue. But it’s like, like OMG!, so hard to follow. The art is fantastic, I really like it for the big splash pages as well as the little details like the reflections in Naomi’s eyes. I didn’t get why Naomi and Zumbado were having friendly, heart to heart, helpful tips conversation. Was he trying to turn her to the dark side? |

I read it. I like the art and layouts, very dynamic. The story seems overly complicated though. I feel like I need to go back and research all of the people who have worn this symbiote to understand what is going on. |

Being a visual person, the mish mosh of artists and styles took away from the story. The concept is cool and I got a little tense when the kids were just about to look at the phone. Hopefully the plan for the next issue is to solidify a single artist and style, so I can enjoy the story. |

This is a BATMAN title isn't it? I bought this to read a Batman story and maybe a bonus side story. What I got was the reverse. Yeah, the story and art were good, but without counting pages, it seemed that the Grifter story was twice as many pages. After I read the whole book and let it sink in, I felt cheated, especially at 5.99. This felt more like a preview than a real issue. |

Thor (2018) #9

If this was a Roz Solomon book I would give it a higher rating, but its not, its Thor minus Thor. Aaron is still pushing the "unworthy" theme, I really hope that somewhere in the near future he regains his status in a big way and his book can finally be about him again. Roz gets things going quick, she's inducted into the new double secret Agents of Wakanda, then promptly jumps right into the middle of Malekith's plans. It seems like she might have bitten off more than she can chew so who does she call? Jane Foster....of course. Although I think it was obvious that Roz was going to come out on top, regardless. This issue seems like its just laying groundwork for the upcoming War of the Realms, while at the same time promoting Aaron's previous story arc lest you forget that Jane was Thor, and Thor is off cavorting with She-Hulk instead of doing "worthy" things. Good action and I love the art. |

Age of Conan: Belit #3

I jumped on all three Conan titles, this one is definitely the weakest. It's not bad, it's not good, its a clumsy in between. The dialogue is stiff, the art is mediocre at best, the panels and flow are clunky. This issue is supposed to be Belit's coming of age in a sense, but it reads like a rough draft, sort of choppy, and the outcome is anti-climatic. It made little sense. I will probably drop this one. |

6.5 only because I didn't know this was an anthology. I was stoked for the Daredevil/Heimdall story, its a cool concept and sounded important. The shortness of the story left me kind of wondering what happened. Plus, I'm starting to think that Jason Aaron has been scarred religiously, his constant theme of unworthy, false Gods is sounding like a personal grudge. The next couple of stories switched gears to goofiness and "fun", again, not what I was expecting in this major world threatening event book. |

Savage Avengers (2019) #4

This issue made me want to drop this series, and I’ve been defending it since #1. The art seems to have progressively gotten worse. It’s very basic, stiff, and SO many recycled poses and panels. How many times can you draw Doctor Voodoo reaching out with his “Elvis” hand? Four apparently in this book. And the exact same 3 panel sequence on consecutive pages made me go back and check to see if there was a double print error. Nope, just lazy art. The story is disjointed and rushed. “Let’s go here, now let’s go there, hey let’s fight! Now let’s fight that thing!” Characters pop into existence on each page. One second Castle is immobilized, then SNAP! He doesn’t have time for that and he’s fine. Dumb. |

The art seemed a little better in this issue, I didn't spot any cheap repeated panels. The story remains rather sophomoric though, with some feeble attempts at humor and the story clumsily jumps from one scene to another in a blink. I won't be picking up the next series. |
