Absolute Carnage: Scream #2 is progress, not only story wise for the characters within, but also quality-wise. What qualms I had with issue one are mostly resolved in this installment. I liked this issue more than its previous chapter, and while its nothing of a spectacular read, it has made me optimistically eager to finish it to its end. Read Full Review
With some fun artwork and a compelling lead, this is yet another solid entry into the Absolute Carnage event. Read Full Review
"The host-flesh wanted the girl. The host-flesh wanted revenge. But this not revenge. This about tithe. Carnage demands an offering. And we will give him what we wants."
I read it. I like the art and layouts, very dynamic. The story seems overly complicated though. I feel like I need to go back and research all of the people who have worn this symbiote to understand what is going on.
This is about the same as last issue for me. It's a Scream comic. I don't expect much of anything.
It's not bad, but nothing special either. Art and writing are okay but this doesn't feel necessary to the main plot.
If you want more Absolute Carnage, this is it, just not that worthwhile.
Prelude:
I didn't like the last issue of Scream but here's hoping this issue proves me wrong now that the setting up is done.
The Good:
Resisting the symbiote is interesting to see.
Shows the larger scale of the event.
The Bad:
Spends quite some time recapping the main event.
Art is overly complex making it hard to understand what is happening.
It's boring.
Conclusion:
Nothing too bad to note, but nothing good either. It exists.
Eh, this is okay I guess.
If the art were done by a single artist -- or a pair that matched up better than these two -- that might have done just enough to boost this up out of mediocrity.
Bunn decides to Bendis it up by throwing in a couple splash pages and explaining events up till now, so he doesn't need to write a story. Leaving you with a comic that is nothing more than a conversation resulting in a team-up that is reversed in the final page. Congrats. If you are reading this you can now skip this issue. You should probably skip the next too, because it's Cullen Bunn.
