Sep 11, 2019Moon Knight Annual #1 is a wild ride through time that is not only fun but also presents us with a moral what-would-you-do-in-this-situation quandary that makes this the perfect one-shot issue. Read Full Review

Word Of The Nerd - Brent Jackson
Sep 12, 2019All around, this is a pretty solid one-shot story. Cullen Bunn makes the battle between Moon Knight and Kang interesting and fun, while the art team delivers some delightful visuals of Moon Knight throughout time. Plus I am always happy to get some Moon Knight in my life. We have got some interesting one-shot Moon Knight stories here recently with this and the short story in Marvel Comics Presents #4. We should be getting more on the way, as well, as I have heard rumors about an ongoing comic series in, possibly, December? Plus, obviously, the biggest news of Moon Knight coming to the MCU with his own Disney+ show! Read Full Review

I don't read Moon Knight, but I love Kang so I picked this up. Pretty good story, straightforward, good progression. I think stories with Kang get railroaded though and end up following the same pattern, or maybe it's time travel stories. Either way, this was enjoyable, the art was good, although Kang seemed to buff up in a few panels. I thought the building with a Kang statue at the top was quite narcissistic in a funny way. Poor guy, he never wins.

This was a solid issue. Although, I prefer a more unhinged Moon Knight. This feels like Moon Knight at his most straightforward.

This was a fun moon knight story. I never read much of Kang but he seemed like a solid villian and the plot was pretty straight forward but we'll done. Really enjoyed the art as well.

I do like my Kang in a one-and-done story rather than menacing the Avengers over the course of six months. The faster the story, the fewer the chances for me to pick at the holes in the timey-wimey plot, I think. This is a satisfying yarn. Giving a character lots of historic legacy incarnations is risky, but Moon Knight is a better candidate for the idea than most. Solid art makes the time-hopping appealing. One unfortunate weakness is the characterization, or lack thereof, on Moon Knight. He's less a man here than a mission in the shape of a man.

Seriously? The average rating is mid-8's right now? This was so bad, so formula, so inconsequential when all was said and done. No cast to speak of, screwy timetravel interpretation, insanely lucky battle showing by Marc repeatedly, and horrible details to the Moon Knight legacy - even though it can be argued that the whole "GLC" variety started specifically askew that just gave the story less impact/meaning trying to "sell it". It would've been fun to see an alt-version of "Phantom Rider" or that early avatar from the Cavengers. Whatever. It was such a disappointment. And the connection to Acts of Evil just escapes me.
