Masters of the Universe: Revelation #2

This issue throws away all of the excellent world-building done by previous MOTU/He-Man creative teams in order to present us with an entire race of Skeletors. This is visually unappealing (understatement) and sets Skeletor up as a borderline-heroic tragic figure, committing unspeakable atrocities for very good and relatable reasons. When it comes to such absurd properties as MOTU, I don't need my villains to be relatable or 'the heroes of their own stories.' I mainly just need an evil-doer for He-Man to punch in his skeletal face. If you want to make him a more competent villain, I'm all for it... but don't try to make him sympathetic! Besides, this is virtually the same origin story as Megatron in IDW's Transformers universe (minus the skeletal love interest), so it's not even an original idea. I understand that the aforementioned previous creative teams were working for DC rather than Dark Horse and were not tied into the Netflix series, but the backstory of Skeletor as Randor's insecure, power-hungry brother worked very well and made infinitely more sense than him being the hero of an entire race of skull-headed aliens that exist just so you know that the villain who is constantly threatening and working toward Eternian genocide is doing it all in the name of love... Normally, I'm not in favor of everyone in a story being related to everyone else, as it makes the world feel so much smaller (see Star Wars), but it worked really well for Skeletor. The issue itself is a complete afterthought. I didn't even finish it.
