Horror DNA - James Ferguson Jul 13, 2018

I had no prior knowledge of Cosmic Ghost Rider before jumping into this issue. Now he's one of my favorite Marvel characters. The comic opens with a brief recap of his life up until this point, told in defining images and one word captions that instantly gets you up to speed. I most definitely have to go back and read Cates' run on Thanos where this character is introduced. That's what I can do in the time before the next issue arrives because I need some more Cosmic Ghost Rider right now. Read Full Review

As an idea man, Cates is almost unrivaled at the House of Ideas, and Cosmic Ghost Rider is the kind of book that reminds us of his staying power and ingenuity as a Marvel writer. Read Full Review

    GWW - Kristel Yeager Jul 4, 2018

The visuals are outstanding. The way each universe is drawn has its own look, yet signature to Burnette. His Thanos is one of the best in recent comics. The cosmic surrounds were definitely my favorite. I can't give it away, but who and why Ghost Rider decides to give the Penance Stare was drawn and written so insanely perfect I had to reread the last few pages twice. The twist at the end of the story is one of the craziest, fun and unexpectedly odd that I've seen. Ever. This is what Frank thinks will fix everything. Instead of fighting, go back and end it all before it began. The final page is, well I honestly don't even know what to say about it without saying exactly what it is. If you enjoy way out there stories, totally of the map, pick this title up. There have been a few sneak peek panels revealed of what's coming. A character named "Juggerduck". So expect crazy! A good crazy. It's a shocker. Read Full Review

    Big Comic Page - Craig Neilson-Adams Jul 8, 2018

With this series, Cates and Burnett have managed to make things just the right amount of crazy, with a mixture of humour and epic-scale storytelling that really hits the mark. Providing a heavy metal dose of full-throttle insanity, Cosmic Ghost Rider is one of the most unashamedly bonkers comics on the shelves today, and for that reason alone, it's a new series that I have no problem highly recommending. The Super Powered Fancast - Deron Generally Jul 4, 2018

This first issue is a brutal, fun portrait of a man who's core is vengeance and neither time, death or destiny will keep him from it. Cates nails Frank Castle's essence in the first few pages and starts an intense journey that can only get stranger. Read Full Review

Despite its somewhat gimmicky premise, COSMIC GHOST RIDER #1 is a surprising stand out hit with a lot of future potential. With a believable lead character and an interesting plot, the only true failing of this comic comes from a lack of accessibility for new fans. Read Full Review

Good art and a premise that should be a wild ride make this well worth a look. It is a tad slow though which is surprising given how badass this character was in Thanos. Read Full Review

To be honest, this issue had its moments, Cates did an excellent job of using his style of humor, creativity, and ingenuity to develop a good foundation for the series moving forward. He gave us a how, a when, a why, and a direction. However, I feel like I've been to this rodeo before. Read Full Review

I enjoyed Cosmic Ghost Rider #1.Cates delivered a good story while also throwing in some wacky things as well. The art matches the tone of the issue perfectly. My main concern is really the next issue. The Cosmic Ghost Rider works well in small doses and in this first issue we really only get a small dose of him. Now the other issues will be more concentrated on him I am wondering how the story will be. I trust that Cates will make it interesting and not just crazy for craziness sake. But if you are looking for a fun comic to read on the fourth of July look no further. Read Full Review

Cates and Burnett are successful in bringing a crazy, high-level concept character down to the ground, only to then take him into even more impossible journeys. Hopefully the rest of the mini will be just as energized " in terms of the script and on how the art portrays it as it moves forward. Read Full Review

I didnt hate Cosmic Ghost Rider #1, but I was never engaged either. The comedy isnt that funny, the stakes arent gripping, and the art is the only thing that reaches the level of functional. Its not bad, mind you. Its just a bland book. I cant recommend it, but its probably not the worst thing you could read this week if you must have it. Read Full Review

    PopCultHQ - Christian Kern Jul 4, 2018

It's interesting. I know Cosmic Ghost Rider gained popularity and became a thing during the whole Marvel Legacy 'Thanos Wins' story arc in the Thanos book. Some of those issues saw multiple printings galore. I was never a huge fan of future characters like this set in a definitive, or what is meant to be a definitive, future (for now). But there are some exceptions; I enjoy Spider-Man 2099, and Doom 2099 wasn't bad back in the day. This isn't half bad either. I can see where people actually thought Cosmic Ghost Rider may have been Deadpool back in the beginning of Thanos Wins. The Ghost Rider persona has almost zero Frank Castle/Punisher in him. However, he remains an interesting enough character for me to care enough to turn the page. Read Full Review
