Fantastic Four (2022) #24

Sep 9, 2024

I am pleased that Ryan North is creating new villains instead of using the same classic villains for the zillionth time. I am pleased to see hard science fiction in a Fantastic Four story, where it would seem most appropriate.

Fantastic Four (2022) #25

Sep 16, 2024

I do like the focus on hard science in this version of the Fantastic Four. I even liked the twist, at first, that the FF had been on Earth the whole time. Also, Carlos draws a gorgeous Sue (I love how her hair swirls when they're in low gravity/high orbit). But there are not enough positives here to overcome all the negatives.

Flash Gordon (2024) #1

Aug 13, 2024

It is too soon to say how this series will measure up in time. So far, it's taken 19 pages for Flash Gordon to escape one room. I trust the pace is going to pick up soon and Flash won't be moving from room to room one per issue.

Flash Gordon Adventures (2024) OGN

Nov 26, 2024

While not necessary reading, this is the most fun I've had reading Flash Gordon, ever. For anyone who loves all-ages science fiction, give this a try.

Hercules (2024) #4

Sep 1, 2024

You might have noticed by now that I found a lot of food for thought in this issue, which explains why my grade for it is pretty high. It could have been higher because, while the overarching story is very intriguing, the story that actually got resolved this issue is more good than great. But I am looking forward to more!

Hercules (2024) #5

Despite my problems with Disney Hercules #5, the series remains fun, educational, and thought-provoking, all factors that make me want to keep reading.

JSA (2024) #1

Nov 9, 2024

It's a shakier start than many past returns of the Justice Society, but JSA #1 is promising enough that I'll stick around and see what happens next!

Powerpuff Girls (2024) #1

Jul 17, 2024

I am looking forward to seeing where they take the Powerpuff Girls from here! As long as they don't stray too far from what works...

Powerpuff Girls (2024) #2

Aug 26, 2024

This issue certainly gave me plenty to think about, but left me unsatisfied in art and conclusion.

Powerpuff Girls (2024) #3

Sep 21, 2024

The art continues to rotate to different artists each issue, with this one going to Miriana Puglia, best known for her work for Dynamite Entertainment and the Gargoyles title. The work is good enough, but that still only puts her in third place already behind the exceptional work of Paulina Ganucheau on issue #1 and Karen Darboe on the first two pages of issue #2.

Powerpuff Girls (2024) #4

Oct 16, 2024

Four issues in, The Powerpuff Girls remains the most consistently enjoyable title I've reviewed so far. The Powerpuff Girls #4 is no difference.

Powerpuff Girls (2024) #5

Nov 26, 2024

Despite some issues with scale and science, I love almost everything about Powerpuff Girls #5. I have been a huge fan of this title since the beginning, but this has been the best issue yet. I wish we were getting this creative team for more than just one more issue!

Powerpuff Girls (2024) #6

Dec 11, 2024

Every issue of this series so far has been a gem and I'm thinking rubies and sapphires here, not agates and lapis lazuli with The Powerpuff Girls #6 being the pinnacle of this unbroken run of great issues.
