Black Nerd Problems - Mikkel Snyder Apr 14, 2021

If you're a fan of Magic: The Gathering, this should be an easy purchase. If you're not, this is a good fantasy comic that may or may not engage you. I think my enjoyment stems from own deep-seated knowledge, but it's a beautifully constructed book regardless. Read Full Review

Magic: The Gathering #1 is a strong start and another great addition to BOOM! Studios' already impressive catalog of licensed comics. Jed MacKay and Ig Guara have tapped into what makes MTG such a popular and enduring game. COMICON - Cesareo Garasa Apr 14, 2021

Overview:A solid, fun first entry in the most recent comic book adaption of the wildly popular collectable card game. Readers don't have to be familiar with the game's mythology or the game itself, thanks to writer Jed MacKay's skillful balancing act between exposition and playful banter. Read Full Review

    Graphic Policy - Brett Apr 7, 2021

Magic #1 does a solid job of bringing the massive world of Magic: The Gathering to comics. Its story keeps things simple with an attack and assassination attempt, something that's easy to understand and brings characters together in an organic and easy way. It's a great mix of the game and comics that's fun for long-time fans and those new to the world. Read Full Review

Multiversity Comics - Joe Skonce Apr 8, 2021

"Magic The Gathering" #1 has its moments, mainly thanks to the strong art of Ig Guara and Ariana Consonni, but ultimately feels too unwieldy to new readers experiencing the world of Ravnica. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - Johnny "The Machine" Hughes Apr 7, 2021

This is a bit of an odd book for me. I am not a fan of Magic: The Gathering not having played it in the card system, online or even mobile variant. I am also at a loss as to whom this book will appeal to. After all, isn't one of the points of the game is that each play is individual? Therefore applying s structure in the form of a story told by someone else, without reader or player interaction feels counter-intuitive. Read Full Review
