Considering that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #11 was a fairly shocking issue, its only expected that the follow up would face a tall task in explaining everything while continuing the enjoyable story. And for the most part, issue #12 mostly sticks the landing. The story surrounding Tommy, Billy, and the mysterious saber is quite fascinating, and it appears to be headed toward a very exciting conclusion. The moment alone with the Red Rangers helmet was worth the price of admission. Its only too bad that there arent more pages dedicated to Goldars side of events and Ritas continuing schemes. Kyle Higgins and Hendry Prasetya open up the toy chest, making great initial use of their alternate reality setup. Higgins uses the extended flashback sequence to shine a different light on the Tommy character, as well as to highlight the many different eras of Ranger lore. Prasetya's epic action and strong sense of tone make for an especially exciting chapter that calls to mind the best aspects of the original source material. Read Full Review

Tommy and Billy do uncover the truth that will change everything, but only really about this Earth they are stuck on. Nonetheless Mighty Morphin Power Rangers#12 keeps us on track between these new developments and progressing with a world that is falling into despair without the full power of the Power Rangers at their disposal. Higgins is clearly trying to mimic the show, and he should just abandon that and make it more mature. The audience reading this book is in their twenties to thirties so don't pretend it's for little kids anymore and make them talk like the adults they look like in the story. Otherwise, I have to admit this was a really good issue and considering I haven't read the series since issue 2, that's saying something. Read Full Review

It's a fine enough alternate reality origin, and perhaps there's more story to be told, but like I said, it's basically just Saba telling everybody the basics of this universe.The issue is bolstered by the stuff that occurs outside of the recap, like Billy and Tommy's reaction to Evil Tommy, which is a hoot. This comic series is what would have been if the 90's tv show actually had decent writing instead of borrowing clips from super sentai.

Excited to see more of this Alternate Earth. I'm hoping that was Aisha at the end!
