As a YA book, The Last Witchpromises to be a great introduction into darker fantasy stories akin to The Lord of the Rings (1954) novels orCoraline (2002). A tight script, along with concise panel layouts, will makeThe Last Witch easy to follow for newcomers to the comicbook medium. And, though experienced readers may be familiar with the tropes used in The Last Witch, the deceptively whimsical art by both Nesterenko and Glass, along with the likable characters, should still interest adult readers as well. The Last Witch is a bit predictable, but in a charming, Saturday morning cartoon kind of way. Read Full Review

While the series seems to be taking a break for the time being, I'm perhaps more interested than ever before in seeing where The Last Witch goes from this point. Read Full Review

And I will also acknowledge that I'm not the target audience for this particular story. I think there are plenty of younger readers who are going to relate to Saoirse and will appreciate the pacing and the ability to revel in the picturesque world. Read Full Review

There could be a great, complex, exciting series with The Last Witch. But the first issue shows a lack of detail, stakes, or compelling artistry. Maybe these qualities seem too incidental for kid's content, but there's a lot of great media for kids to consume that's exceptionally made, and I think they deserve better. Read Full Review

The artwork is charming, as are the characters. The main problem is that this is rather slow in building to where it wants to go. It could very easily be worth the build-up, it's just difficult for me to say at this point. At least it's better than the Eternals comic that came out this same week from Marvel to rave reviews.

I liked the length and the characters. The colors were very well done. Story-wise, I'm enjoying it and it sets you up to want more; however, one of Nan's decisions seems a bit unbelievable. Oddly enough, one thing that bothered me for some reason was the fonts of the text. Something seemed off with a few of the bubble placements as well.
