Jun 17, 2026Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #52’s is Saturday morning cartoon fun. Although Waid’s narrative lacks depth and demands that we ask the question, “Power to what end?” it oozes with Silver Age spectacle. Thankfully, what the narrative lacks in depth, it more than makes up for with pitch-perfect characterization, world-building, and Gutierrez’s gorgeous artwork. And, most importantly, if you’re anything like me, you’ve been craving some Saturday Morning Cartoon action with your favorite superheroes. Now, where are my Batman and Superman with dinosaur armor!? I need to smash them together. Read Full Review

Jun 19, 2026This issue gets pretty dark in places, much more in line with the work Mike Grell did on the world of Skartaris in his iconic Warlord series and its follow-ups. That’s a great way to set this arc apart from the other flashback works Waid has done, which have more of a Silver Age aesthetic. Read Full Review

Jun 17, 2026Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #52 has it all. If an evil dinosaur-hybrid wizard, lizard-men with superpowers, and a mind-controlled Batman and Superman sound appealing to you, then you’re in the right place. Mark Waid and the awesome art team deliver a great second issue of their Skartaris arc that feels as Silver Age as ever and features some gorgeous splash panels. If you aren’t reading World’s Finest, add it to your pull list because this series just keeps getting better and better. Read Full Review

The Batman Universe - Adam Koppel
Jun 17, 2026Batman/Superman: World's Finest #52 works well enough as a smaller piece of the larger story puzzle, but this issue feels more sleight than Waid's typical multi-part arcs. The art and color are a standout though, while the script is informative and fun, if a bit thin. Read Full Review

Jun 24, 2026It is hard to be down on the book. The art, Robin, that Batman moment all elevate this. But this story is otherwise a sort of standard bad guy fight plunked into a new environment. Read Full Review
