  Exploding with cinematic action and excellent character-driven drama, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #53 is a dino-mite conclusion to “Warlords.” As with prior installments, a large portion of this issue’s success is due to Mark Waid’s understanding of each character. Waid does an excellent job not only of using their ideologies to drive this individual issue’s narrative forward but also of weaving them throughout the overarching narrative. However, as strong as Waid’s work is within these pages, Adrián Gutiérrez’s cinematic artwork may be the true star of the show. The new designs for mind-controlled Superman and Batman live up to the hype, looking just as great in action as they did on the final page of the previous issue. Read Full Review

  Concluding Thoughts and Rating Mark Waid concludes World’s Finest’s Skartaris arc with an issue that features big battles and great character moments. Robin takes center stage in a story that shows that if your convictions and beliefs run deep, then no one can ever change who you are. World’s Finest continues to be one of DC’s strongest titles, and it shows no signs of slowing down. If you haven’t been picking this book up, you'd better add it to your pull list. Read Full Review

  The worse thing I can say about this conclusion is that it took too long to come. Waid doesn’t craft a bad story here, just one that didn’t need to go as long as it did. Nothing in this particular issue altered or enhanced anything that came before it and it felt rushed in many places. I came away from this storyline wondering if any element of it was necessary beyond playing with this particular toy in the toybox and the ending doesn’t change that.
