What an absolute blast of an issue! So much fun. Love the cast. Love the art. And perfect for this title where Waid slips a done-in-one story between arcs. Read Full Review

    Fanlight Zone - Ken M.

Play Ball! Waid spins a creative take on America’s pastime with supernatural flare. Frenda & the team deliver a double play of action and drama with the art. A fantastic detour from the traditional formula of superhero storytelling. Read Full Review

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #54 is a fun detour that fully embraces its ridiculous premise. Bruno Frenda, Luis Guerrero, and Steve Wands make the baseball action work, while Waid adds just enough heart to keep the issue from feeling disposable. It may be a filler issue, but in a series this consistently entertaining, even the detours are worth taking. Read Full Review

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #54 offers up an enjoyable one-off story with themes of friendship, morality, legacy and sacrifice, but doesn't forget to have some fun along the way. Guest artist Bruno Frenda complements Mark Waid's wildly imaginative script with impressive visuals. Read Full Review

Comic Book Clique - Russell Hartman

    Aug 26, 2026

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #54 pits the heroes of the DC Universe against demons from Hell in a nine-inning classic of America’s pastime. This one-shot delivers the quality readers have come to expect from World’s Finest and has some of the most kinetic art I’ve seen in a book all year. Superman, Batman, and their allies have saved the world before but never with a walk-off shot in the ninth inning. This was a lot of fun. Read Full Review
