The reveal as to Batwoman’s identity isn’t a huge surprise, but it is a great development that gives a character the spotlight they’ve deserved for a long time. I’m also really enjoying the whole caustic exes vibe that Kate and Renee are bringing to their scenes together – happy pride month, y’all. Read Full Review

The world of Kate Kane gets rocked again as more secrets come to light in an excellent chapter. Rucka keeps raising the stakes as the truth comes to light. Dani & Hollingsworth bring a bold energy to the emotional scenes and pages. Buckle in for how this first arc is going to explosively end. Read Full Review

Batwoman #4 is a step forward for the series, leaning into some easy or predictable reveals that nevertheless give the plot some much-needed forward momentum. The conclusion of this story arc has a lot of heavy lifting to do, so we'll have to see if Rucka and DaNi are able to stick the landing. This series launched with a lot of hype, between the character and the creators, so it would be nice to see that pay off a little better in the end. Read Full Review

Some clunky talk with the villains at the start but then lots of great moments with Kate, Montoya, and Beth.

Good issue. For those who were upset about Kate being out of character in earlier issues, the twist was obvious.

Not quite up to the 4/5 or 8/10 mark for me, but this was pretty close to getting there. I might need to re-read the first three issues with the added context of the twist revealed here. Not sure how much my opinion of them would change, though. In any case, this was a pretty solid read, though I do think DaNi is capable of stronger interiors. I like her style she’s going for, in general, but I think it could use a little refinement.
