Well it's about time this whole Blight thing finally took off. We got a taste in the last issue of Phantom Stranger, but this just comes at you no hold barred. With that being said, it feels like Blight is just something for the dark characters to do, while everyone else is dealing with the Crime Syndicate, and comes off more as an afterthought. I know we're a few issues in, but as the series progresses, it just hammers the idea in that this event doesn't belong. But take it for what it is, and enjoy your dose of badass magic induced mayhem. Constantine was on its way up before Blight struck the title, and one might think that a crossover event once it had finally gained some momentum would be a bad move, but the quality here is just as solid as it was before. Blight may be a slow burning storyline, but the dialogue is enjoyable, the motivations of the characters are varied, and the stakes couldn't be higher. Read Full Review
Raw Fawkes captures the essence of Constantine extremely well, but a lack of creative story-telling, unimpressive artwork, and a conclusion that leaves the story pretty much where it all started, you are left with the feeling that this issue was just a whole lot of nothing, unfortunately. So here are my hopes for this series (and the sub-event): First, I would absolutely love to see the characters get new creative teams after all of this is said and done. Second, if that one's not possible, I'd like to see a "Trinity of Sin" or just a new take on Justice League Dark, maybe even a magic/supernatural team-up series. This could be written by J. M. DeMatteis with backup stories by Ray Fawkes and a series of rotating artists. With the announcement of Animal Man ending early next year, the New 52"s "The Dark" imprint is pretty much gone entirely. If these characters are going to stay in the DC Universe, they need to be used. But perhaps they are being overused. And their creators are over-saturating the stories. These are my hopes. Or, ideally, something altogether and entirely different and unexpected will happen at the end of this event. Constantine: The Hellblazer #9 is the literary equivalent of Japanese candy: it looks beautiful, but as soon as readers bite into it, there's nothing but bitter misery. It's a surprisingly weak entry in a typically enjoyable series. Read Full Review
A nice next step for the Blight storyline. Not quite as good as JMD's issues but still a lot of fun.
Oh dear... Aco's art was all over the place in this and we don't get developments neither in characters nor storywise. Just boring.
