A bold new era begins on Earth-2! The heroes have decided to take leadership roles in this still-rebuilding world. But power soon becomes absolute power, and the people of Earth-2 quickly discover theyve trusted in the wrong heroes!
Overall, the controversial environment that the Wonders find themselves in now leaves me excited to see where the story goes from here. Although I was looking for a change in artist, Jimenez still has given some great panels before so I will keep an open mind. Read Full Review
Dan Abnett writes a short but surprisingly meaty story with Earth 2: Society #8, using low panel counts to let artist Jorge Jimenez go crazy with this alt-world JSA. Read Full Review
Abnett isn't afraid to use multiple storylines within one issue and we've come to see that he's been doing this a lot since Earth 2: Society started. The pacing of the comic book is exactly where I want it to be; I'm not really going to complain on anything with this issue, because I truly enjoyed it. I'm going to share this picture of Fury, because it was my favorite art scene in the entire issue " great work guys! Read Full Review
Earth Society 2#8 is not without it's problems. The series as a whole never seems to manage the job of fully drawing you in. The issue ends on a rather large cliff hanger but for the most part the rest of the issue is boring. The creative team still doesn't seem to of decided what they want this comic to be. Until they figure it out the series is likely going to be one of those that people consider buying but never actually do. Read Full Review
While this won't immediately come out and "WOW" you, it does a decent job in setting up what we'll be dealing with on Earth 2 and since it all felt like it rang true to the characters, while even bringing us back a more human Green Lantern, I have to say that Dan Abnett's first outing into this world was half decent and I can't wait to see what he does with it from here on out. Along with that, we continue to have Jorge Jimenez's awesome style bringing this story to life and just making these characters look great. Read Full Review
Besides the tone, my other big complaint is that there are several different stories going on at once that don't relate to each other. Maybe the plots will connect later but it feels a little tedious now. They could structure it differently and make it more of an anthology book instead of cutting back and forth between these different tales. It might be a little more fun. As is, the art is nice but the issue itself is dull. There's too much going on that doesn't connect and it's just not any fun. I am curious about the Amazonian plot so I am hoping that the series will pick up and these stories can come together. Read Full Review
Already better under Abnett.
Much better issue than previous thanks to Abnett. Conceptually I dislike the book, but he made it readable. Why not go back to Earth 2 of New 52 when it was good?
