The Outlaws deal with the fallout from Koris past and learn that a top-secret villain has returned to make things much, much worse for them!
Red Hood and the Outlaws #34 is the type of adventure team-book (as branded in the New 52), that Scott Lobdell excels at. You don't need to know anything to enjoy it and I've never enjoyed reading Starfire as much as I did in these pages " it's enough to get back the frequently lack luster art. Read Full Review
Sometimes the darkness is what makes an issue stand out and reveal a tiny glimmer of what the soul of a book is made of. This issue of Red Hood and the Outlaws cuts deep to the heart of who the Outlaws are in their most basic forms " void-like dark, irreparably broken, and they might just be unsalvageable. There are just a few holes in Red Hood and the Outlaws #34 that slightly held back the story. If those holes were filled, then this would have been a great conclusion to the story arc that brings Lobdell back into writing the series. Despite what I said in my review for Lobdell's return issue about now wanting to see this comic have a plot, Lobdell is doing enough actually good work with Starfire and her storyline here that I'm actually enjoying it. The issue ends in an interesting place with Red Hood and Arsenal potentially wanted for murder and Starfire feeling betrayed by the closest thing she has to a family and having taken some sort of drastic but as of yet unclear step, and I'm eager to see what's going to happen next to this group that is surprisingly becoming my favorite DC characters. There were so many mistakes in this issue that I found it very hard to figure out what was going on right off the bat. Either the wrong character in the wrong panel, wrong coloring to said character, bad caption placement and an ending I can't decipher. Just a really bad issue due to technical reasons and the story wasn't very strong on top of it. Hopefully some amazing things come from this issue in the future or it's just a complete waste. Fantastic issue that shows all the character growth the team has had during 34 issues, without doubt one of Lobdell's finest issues.
