Ultimately, it's hard to say too much about Superboy: Futures End, because it rests so much on style rather than substance. This isn't going to be the main Gen13 team moving forward, so the link between this new run and the previous run feels somewhat tenuous, and some of the ideas aren't quite fully fleshed out enough to make them really settle in. But a new artist is always a good thing, particularly for under-served books like Superboy - and in that regard, Kon-El's future looks surprisingly bright. Read Full Review
Ben Caldwell's pencils inSuperboy are just awful, with facial expressions don't match the words in the panel and body proportions that are way beyond belief; and sometimes whole panels look like melting clay. Read Full Review
Only a must read for the fans of this Superboy run. I don't even think the die hard Future's End fan would find this book relevant. It's a very tenuous tie-in as it takes place five years in the future and references the events of Future's End, but seems to have little to do with the plot. It's really just a goodbye to Kon's first run in the New 52. Read Full Review
The writing is pretty mediocre, resmebeling a mid-nineties teen book. The art is so bad that I couldn't understand the emotions that the writer was trying to imply and what the artist was trying to draw. Unless you really like Superboy and old books like Generation-X, you can give this book a pass as nothing good really happens in it. Read Full Review
This was just an awful issue. I was really hoping for a good way to say goodbye to Superboy here.......... and it was just awful. The story contradicted the Superboy series and left you wondering what the hell is really going on. While I liked the cartoony style this was going with when I began the issue, it became muddied and confusing and made me do a couple double takes to make sure I knew what I was looking at. Superboy Five Years From Now is not the hero I wanted him to be and now I actually wish that this title was omitted from the Futures End event. Read Full Review
This was great stuff! Love the character dynamics, really enjoyed the story. It reminded me a lot of Peter David's Young Justice. Caldwell's artwork isn't for everyone, but I enjoy how expressive it is. Looking forward to the teased Superboy and Gen 13 ongoing.
The flow of the story wasn't bad and the cover was nice...and those are the only nice things I could think of saying. The interior art was awful and the story was simplistic, kinda
boring and lacked any connection to the "Futures End" story. Save your money.
