Confronted with a Psi War, Superman falls before one of its leaders, the H.I.V.E. queen!
As for art, I love this sort of anti-pieta. Sure it looks like Michaelangelo's Pieta. But that is one evil looking Queen Bee. And I doubt she is supposed to be comforting/mourning Superman. It is a dark reflection of the classic Pieta and that works here. So overall an entertaining issue on all levels. The PsiWar plot proceeds with Hammond and HIVE duking it out. We get some quality Clark/Cat moments. We learn Brainiac is enmeshed in this whole thing. And the art was solid throughout. Read Full Review
Superman points out how all of his powers mean little against a psychic threat, and he's not wrong. Those are the kinds of Superman stories I love -- where he's got to get creative -- so I'm actually intrigued to see how he handles this. The twist in the end comes out of nowhere, but I didn't mind because it was entertaining and left me guessing as to what happens next. That being said, the next issue in the Superman series promises a wide scale fight, the likes of which we have yet to see. Read Full Review
Kudos DC, kudos to you for yet again turning a Superman story to garbage. Read Full Review
"Superman" #22 was a book that I'd been looking forward to since last month's issue, so this is definitely a bit of a stumble. There are enough little bits here and there that I'm not giving up hope yet, and I would like to see what happens when Lobdell and Barrows can collaborate on a story together right from the start rather than mid-stream. Still, this issue could have been a lot better. Read Full Review
