WHERE'S BESS!? Nancy and the gang race against the clock to find Bess before she meets the same fate as the other women in their case. Can Nancy solve the mystery in time to save her friend and close a case that's haunted Bayport for nearly a decade? It's a sprint to the finish by writer KELLY THOMPSON (Hawkeye, West Coast Avengers) and artist JENN ST-ONGE (Giant Days, The Misfits) in this fiery conclusion!
Nancy Drew #5 closes a strong story arc that not only introduces us to her world and her friends, but contains a solid mystery that seems entirely plausible. I think it shows that the concept of Nancy Drew is as engaging as ever, and can be adapted to fit into the present. The art throughout has been lovely, really drawing us in and making us care about the characters. Nancy has plenty of room for character development, and I would love to see more. Read Full Review
Nancy Drew #5 is the anticipated conclusion to the Cold Case story. With the mystery solved, but Nancy's future hanging in the balance, Kelly Thompson crafts a highly suspenseful, action-packed issue. Jenn St-Onge's art remains vivid and intense until the final panel. Read Full Review
The action moves fast but remains connected emotionally but what increases the intrigue in the story is Nancy's perception and skilled investigator work. For example, Nancy correctly perceives that the police chief is colluding with Locke in his criminal endeavors. Thompson increases the anticipation of next month's issue by placing Nancy as a prime suspect in a crime! I highly recommend jumping on board this fun yet compelling series. Read Full Review
I've enjoyed the five-issue arc from writer Kelly Thompson and artist Jenn St-Onge and Nancy Drew #5 provides a fitting conclusion. Although the comic ends on a cliffhanger, with Nancy in new trouble and in need of all the help she can get, Dynamite Entertainment has no new solicitations for further adventures of Nancy Drew. Hopefully this isn't the last of the plucky teenage detective for the foreseeable future. Worth a look. Read Full Review
The first arc of this reimagining comes together essentially how you would expect, but that's not a bad thing. Read Full Review
Too much action, not enough mystery and a lackluster conclusion to what started off as a very engaging book. Their next adventure will need some retooling but the characters are too good for this to be their only adventure. Read Full Review
