Plot

This run marks one of Sonja's best phases on Dynamite. The variant covers themselves pay homage to the good times when the character was published by Marvel, and Torunn Gronbekk rescued that essence. Walter Geovani's art reminds to Carlo Pagulayan's promising work on Planet Hulk.
Forget about Sonja's new movie and ignore Gail Simone's entire run, because Torunn Gronbekk and Walter Geovani are calling on you, old-school reader of Marvel's good times, and even you, new reader who didn't live through that era, to show you why of comic books being something fundamental when they are done well.
The dilogue is a little off in this issue as the guards call Red Sonja "Honey," which is not period along with some other examples. However, I did enjoy the interaction between her and Gath. I was wondering why Gath didn't outright kill her, and we did get that answered. Apparently, there is more to Grace than we first thought. A little dip in quality here, but I'm still on board.
