Horrified to learn that she's not the only serial killer in Woodbrook-and insulted, frankly, by the rookie's flare for the dramatic-Samantha hits the pavement to silence the competition before they ruin her quiet, perfectly curated life. But the insufferable latte-chugging local busybody Cherry Gherkins is poisoning the town with her own theories about the murder, and things are about to get messy. Grab a cup of cocoa and curl up with the second chapter of Patrick Horvath's twisted tale of a cozy animal community in crisis!
I honestly can't stress how much I'm enjoying this series. And while it's only technically going to have two issues published in this calendar year, it's already rocketing its way to the top of my “Best of 2023” list. Blending cutesy animals and twisted psychopaths into a weirdly compelling mixture, this series once again gets my highest possible recommendation. Read Full Review
Horvath provides beautifully detailed art of an idyllic place and people. I love the visual style and how it frames the beauty of the town right before introducing graphic violence that has a visceral look to it. Read Full Review
Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees #2 is a hell of a second issue of a triumph of a series. It stands as one of the best of the year. Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees #2 takes a surprising turn as the story shifts from a serial killer's inner monologue-driven horror tale into a detective narrative. Now, it's a matter of solving the crime along with Sam, who also happens to be a killer himself. Read Full Review
From cover to cliffhanger, it makes for a suspenseful journey with an excellent payoff. Read Full Review
This issue deals with the fallout of the first issue, and how the town reacts. Things then proceed to get really messed up and crank the tension up to 11. Sam realizes stuff is going to explode from here and what is going on. I love a good murder mystery/crime drama, and add in the uniqueness of the setting and you have a run to read tale.
Go Patrick! You are going a great job!
Solid continuation. All thumbs up from me Patrick Horvath, Keep it up!
Of course they made the Karen a blonde, fat pig.
The second issue picks up where the shocking first issue left off, plunging readers deeper into the bizarre and darkly humorous world of Woodbrook. Writer and artist Patrick Horvath continues to weave a captivating story, this time with a focus on the unexpected consequences of secrets and the dangers of unchecked ambition. The twist of Sam, the serial killer main character, becoming a quasi-investigator was a fun twist that I didn’t see coming.
Horvath's artwork is once again a highlight of the issue. His expressive character designs and detailed backgrounds bring the world of Woodbrook to life, capturing the creepy charm of the town and the sinister nature of its inhabitants. The use of color is particularly effective, with m more
The art is just really well crafted. The story is alright. It's good, and is written well, it's just not super unique. Still, it's an entertaining book.
