The art is textured and immersive, the colors are stellar, and while the writing has its moments, it ultimately falls into familiar, uninspired territory. Godzilla Heist #1 is a fresh take on a classic monster. Van Jensen has come up with a completely original story involving one of the greatest monsters in pop culture. Just when you think you know where the story is going in this first issue, we get a complete swerve and a reveal of a popular Godzilla foe. All of that and this is just issue number one. I had doubts but this was actually interesting. I like the mystery box
I’m intrigued. A little cliche at times but it has some fun potential to be a good twist on your typical Godzilla story.
