Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: the Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #1 is a bold new direction for a franchise that has notoriously played it safe. While this issue does a lot of great things, such as setting up new characters, setting the stage by acknowledging what came before, and delivering some crazy action sequences, the heavy use of exposition and plot setup hold it back from being truly great. A strong first outing that provides the necessary info for new readers and delivers upon the premise while setting up an interesting and surprisingly multilayered story.

The new turtles all have a fresh dynamic and feel authentic as teens, and I'm eager to see where this journey takes them. Casey Marie is a surprisingly thoughtful leader and April is used well here. This a lot of "meat" to the story with real world allegories of corruption and jncertsin status quos about heroism present. The art is phenomenal throughout, the Escorza Brothers bring art that feels both retro styled and harken to the 80s and 90s but also feels modern. Its well detailed sjd the colors compliment the line work. This book makes heavy use of double pa more

Too much dialogue with what seems to be too little purpose, also I just can't seem to invest myself in these newer characters. Not a bad comic but we need some major happenings soon to avoid the staleness this issue seemed to suffer from.

while I dont think Last Ronin should have a sequel given how it perfectly ended the original Turtles story, and no one can replace Michaelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo. I still liked the story and it took a lot of re-reading to fully enjoy it. It didnt have a strong start like the previous series. But its still a good start, and I am hoping I will like the new turtles.

The original Last Ronin run captivated readers w/ its dark & gritty story of Michelangelo, the last remaining Turtle, fought for revenge in a dystopian future while dealing w/ some serious PTSD over his lost brothers. Now, the long-awaited sequel picks up 15 years later, introducing a new generation of heroes & showing us just how far NYC has fallen.

The oppressive rule of the Foot Clan is gone, but the power vacuum has been filled by rival gangs, each vying for control & plunging the city deeper into chaos. Casey Marie Jones, now a seasoned leader, trains the new generation of turtles: Yi, Odyn, Moja, & Uno. These young turtles have some interesting dynamics, but are not yet to fully developed as individuals by the end of this f more
