VINYL and PLASTIC creator DOUG WAGNER returns with artist TIM ODLAND and colorist MICHELLE MADSEN to bring you a tale of Vikings, Trolls, Frost Giants, and Valkyries.

Dark fantasy and dark fun are the order of the day in this new take on the classic hero's quest saga from Doug Wagner and Tim Odland. Of all the various creatures popping up throughout the book, the trolls are the most fascinating and grotesque, and lend an almost horror vibe to the book, with their multiple disfigured heads and fused eye sockets. I look forward to seeing the other creatures that pop up over the course of the series, and I hope the creative team is able to maintain the balance between horror and light-hearted action. Beware The Eye Of Odin is a well-crafted, well delivered story which is plenty entertaining. Id love to see more monsters and dark fantasy of the kind delivered in this debut; maybe just notch the dial up a bit. Read Full Review
Aside from aforementioned close-ups on human faces, there's nothing offensively bad about Beware The Eye of Odin #1. And it's possible the story picks up steam in the next three installments. But as an introduction, it struggles to find its footing. Read Full Review
A very good first issue for this comic based on Norse Mythology. The story follows the deeds of Helgi, a Viking prince and his task of returning the eye of Odin to Mimir before the next new moon. The story has a nice pace, gives an introduction of Helgi past and why all the people from the his village think he is cursed. Many are the references to names, creatures and Norse myths.
The art is also great, I like how the creatures and all the environment around are drawn. Although most of the story is set in a cursed forest (reminds me of Fangorn from "The Lord of the Rings"), Odland does a great job in making that forest alive.
Really look forward for the next issues and I really hope this would have not been just a mini-se more
