For fans of THE MOON IS FOLLOWING US and BATTLE CHASERS comes an exclusive new action series from rising star **LUDO LULLABI **(TRANSFORMERS, Battle Chasers) about forgotten heroes, cutthroat food trucks, and saving the world...again. This first issue does an incredible job of introducing us to our main characters, well at the same time keeping a mysterious aura about them. Ludo Lullabi has crafted an interesting story, that feels familiar well being completely its own thing. The hellscape of a world welcomes that grimy dystopian feel, where danger is around every corner. Mix that with a volatile main character whose anger gets the best of him, and its a recipe for sur success. Read Full Review
On a world devastated by war, survivors cling to communal beliefs. An oral tradition preserves their history. It teaches that scientists created the instrument of their destruction in Ghost Pepper #1. But when robots dictate their lives and prevent their communities from rebuilding, how much of what the people know should they believe? Read Full Review
The firmly established relationship between Ash and Loloi feels like it has potential to go somewhere. Ash isnt the most talkative hero, but there's actually quite a bit of a appeal in that. It allows for a great degree of mystery with respect to him. Of course, any central character who is inherently mysterious is going to have problems moving forward if there isn't some very careful work done to develop his personality over the course of the first several issues of this se he's charming enough quiet. If he starts talking, things could get ugly in a hurry. Read Full Review
Ghost Pepper makes a solid impression with its energetic promise of a series that doesn't have a lot of easy comparisons in the current comic landscape. It's definitely one worth checking out and one I'll be reading with interest these next few months. Read Full Review
Ghost Pepper #1 drops the reader into a unique world and then quickly starts pushing them through it. Its an exciting read, but slim when it comes to actual plot and character development. A few strategic plot elements create intrigue though. Strong visuals give this comic a distinct visual identity, but there are some spots where it's hard to see exactly what's going on. The foundation set here is for a series that could be really fun, making Ghost Pepper a pretty substantial meal for fans of the Apocalypse. Read Full Review
GHOST PEPPER #1 delivers a knockout punch with its art, but the writing leaves you dazed and a little lost. If you're here for eye candy and wild action, you'll be more than satisfied. If you want a story that makes sense on the first read, you might want to wait for the next course. Read Full Review
Ghost Pepper #1 is an interesting start. It's good but not great. The biggest problem is, as presented, it feels like a remake of the manga Crazy Food Truck. It could be completely different but that's how overall not fleshed out the first issue is beyond eating some food and fights. Interchange the characters into this issue and it'd feel like a continuation of that series. Still, there's potential here and the art does pop. It's a bit of a throwback to a time when Image was a bit more flash that substance and it's debatable if that's a good thing or not. Read Full Review
Ghost Pepper #1 has all the intentions of presenting an intriguing world. Unfortunately the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Read Full Review
What a fun new book! The art was good, the writing was very good and the world building was great. You can definitely see the Battle Chasers influence in the character designs. Can't wait for more.
I thoroughly enjoyed this first issue of Ghost Pepper. I‘m not usually a fan of Manga-inspired comics, but Lullabi‘s extremely dynamic and stylized art works for me - maybe with the exception of the female main character, who seems a bit bland and one-dimensional (I’m sure this will change in future issues - I will probably love her in a few months). All the other characters, creatures and machines look amazing and there‘s some strong worldbuilding going on. The dialogue is surprisingly good, hinting at interesting developments in the future. I also want to mention the subtle but unusual reduced color palette, that gives this world a very unique atmosphere.
Of course Ghost Pepper owes a lot to Battle Chasers, which Lullabi illu more
