You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff
May 19, 2026The two opposing forces need a third force in a world that is tilted a bit by the presence of extraterrestrial elements. It's a really interesting combination of different things which all come together to create a remarkably enjoyable adventure, serial that fits into a larger picture. It will be interesting to see how things developed from here. The challenge is going to be finding a way to keep the action moving with novel adventures while still maintaining those aspects of the property that made it so successful back when it was just extremely repetitive and tedious. It's a weird challenge to try to tackle. But they're doing a pretty good job of it. Read Full Review

May 23, 2026G.I. Joe #22 is an enjoyable issue that kicks off The Hunt for Energon by taking things in a more horror-themed direction, amping up the dread and giving focus and depth to some lesser-used cast members in the process. Crystal Ball is a great villain to base this kind of story around, and he’s really going to put the cast through the ringer. So far, this is a great change of pace from the action bombast of the last story arc, and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go from here. Read Full Review

I don’t know if Andrea Milana has officially become a second regular artist on this book, but if his art continues to improve as much as in his last few issues, I’m fine with that. This one has some really great action layouts that he probably wouldn’t have been able to pull off just a few months ago. If you want to see a future great artist in the making, read G.I. Joe!
