Apr 15, 2026This iteration of GI Joe has been stellar, and this was a superb way to bring Scarlett aboard the main team with so many storyline directions for Williamson to take the series now. Read Full Review

Apr 15, 2026Cobra Commander's assault on The Arashikage leads into a phenomenal story that actions speak louder than words. Williamson orchestrates a direct and unapologetic melee to remember. Reilly & Loughridge deliver on high-octane combat with every panel. There’s never a shortage of excitement with this series! Read Full Review

Apr 20, 2026Outside of that this is Reilly’s show and it is spectacular. Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Jinx, and the Arashikage are all immediately reintegrated into the story that creates a lot of interest in the roles they will play moving forward. Read Full Review

Apr 16, 2026G.I. Joe #21 commemorates the classic silent issue with a new, edgier take on the concept, moving the story forward with only a little text and one sound effect. This modern approach on the ninja mythology and the shared energon technology allows for more tension and higher emotional stakes. Read Full Review

Comical Opinions - Gabriel Hernandez
Apr 15, 2026G.I. Joe #21 is a mostly silent issue that delivers a strong, action-packed experience. Joshua Williamson crafts a satisfying follow-up to previous storylines, and the art team excels across the board. However, the central plot device—the Energon sword—remains underexplained, adding unnecessary confusion to an otherwise solid story. Read Full Review

Comic Book Clique - Frank Jarome
Apr 15, 2026This series has been firing on all cylinders since the Dreadnok War arc, and if they can maintain the momentum, this Energon Universe version of G.I. Joe could go down as one of the best. Much like the mystery of who the sword-wielding Viper is, only time will tell. Read Full Review

near Silent issues are becoming too common but do they pull it off ? yeah they do mostly. Joshua Williamson nails GI Joe so well but cannot write Iron Man to save his life. Regardless, keep up the great work here!!

An almost silent issue. I'm not a fan of those, but at least it's drawn by Tom Reilly. His storytelling ability is undeniable and sets this issue apart from most other stories of its kind.

I didn’t remember exactly how the Scarlet mini-series ended so it was nice that they got me up to speed with this one. They took the story forward catching up to current events in the Energon Universe. This was a quasi-silent issue and frankly I’m over that concept. Image seems to be beating that poor horse well past the point of being dead. The problem with silent issues is that they read super fast, so I was done pretty quick and there was very little nuance to what was happening. Cobra attacks to steal the lightsaber (or whatever it’s called) while the Joes are trying to extract Scarlet, not a ton of story here. It was nice to see my favorite Joe Snow Job again and it was doubly nice NOT to have Transformers or MASK lurking around. While more

I liked the original Silent Mission, and I even liked it when they revived it as an homage. But now it's gone too far. There are far too many of them that it has diluted the uniqueness of it. Now, it's bled into the regular series. I'm over it. Stop it already. Also, Storm Shadow is a villain. I know he's a good guy in the Hama run, but we already have Baroness as a good guy. Let's keep some good Cobra villains. I hope Williamson gets back on the ball next month.
