This one had me rolling my eyes hard. I found the first two parts of Anomaly moderately entertaining (as much as one can in this X-Men era of retarded storytelling and lazy art), but MacKay‘s anticlimactic kitchen sink psychology conclusion is a huge letdown.

Another okay-ish issue of Safe Space X-Men. The story and dialogue in this one feel completely rehashed and redundant, but the art is slightly above average. Unfortunately we have not one, but two guest pencilers, although the difference between their styles is not that extreme.
All in all, an issue that nobody needed, but that doesn't hurt anyone either.

In response to MisterNob ody‘s comment: I review books because I’m interested in them. That doesn’t mean I love every single issue. Sometimes I dislike a complete run, but I still read it because I’m invested in the characters. I’d also say that a 6 is not a bad review, it’s an average review. If I rated any okay book 9 or 10, what would I rate the good ones? The great ones? The masterpieces?
Also, a critical review is not trolling, but insulting and tearing down other reviewers because they don’t like a book you like probably is. Sad, so sad.more

When you look into the writer and how polarized they are in one direction of feminism I’m sure people won’t give this book a chance just based on that. That’s a shame because the first issue isn’t bad. It lays down a decent frame work for this series to function in. However the only reason I don’t go higher is that’s pretty much all it does. It’s a little too light a read for people that aren’t Clayface fans. I’m interested to see what comes next. more

Scott has a clear pattern in his story telling. story then shock at the end to make you come back. it largely works. The reimagining of Harley Quinns Origin was a welcome one. DC mainline has destroyed this character in recent years. However this is refreshing. I love the Ark -M world. I love how different this Absolute universe is and how it takes chances. Harley with Joker as her father, Bruce Wayne flipped essentially with the Joker. It all works. I love how this is playing out. Scott is a great Batman writer. The art however is the biggest issue as it's confusing and hard to follow. A step down. Otherwise compelling stuff thats different. Its new. It takes chances. all the things I want in a comic. more

If you are a die hard X-men fan for most of your collecting life like me, You buy with the hope it'll improve and to complete runs. I'm getting to the point I may just remove it from my pull list. I'm very much hoping the rumored changes to the X office this Dec will happen and they clean house. this book is pretty terrible, lazy and awful. Last storyline was Universal Monsters garbage. Gail once again writes whatever she was streaming on tv that week. Now it's vintage Alien movies from the 50s . We dive back into the never ending dance as the students are preparing to battle giant aliens and discover why the Brood appeared... in what little you see them because last issue it was one page. The Brood were also holding guns that are now gone this issue... but hey who cares right? I mean the Vig gets his arm ripped off and no one gave a crap. So once again in Gail fashion- throw everything at the reader and try to fix it after. The way the Brood are written here, the hive mind is gone. All the work done by Claremont to make them more interesting is long gone. what little we actually see of them in this issue ( literally 2 pages) adds nothing. But Gail needs it for her lame twist at the end. Mutina ,who is used simply for exposition dumps to move the story along says - the Nur are exterminators and this high school dance is on a Brood breeding ground? awful. truly dreadful lazy writing. just like Nightcrawlers escape from the ship. literally" wait I think I see, hold your breath." and he figures it out. then we move on. wtf was that ? we also get a continuation of the convo at Graymulken Prison. Let's hope we can just drop that making Wolverines crap asap. I've tolerated Krakoa and all that pain it brought. From the Ashes has become awful and another relaunch that merits more of the same trash will be too much for even me. Fingers crossed- someone... anyone... please save the X-men! more

I dare anyone to make sense of Eves writing and rules for Greymatter lane. This book is well drawn and that’s about all the positivities. Look how many reviews it’s getting. A mass exodus from this book for all the reviewers…why? Well it’s really bad. Eve lost the plot long ago in issue 2. I want good X-men books. I really do. Aside from Orlando’s X-men Outback (which was just mid) the franchi se is lost. 26 characters in this book with a rotten script. The shadow king can’t save this book. Tracking people’s scents on the astral plane was hilarious. This series was announced as canceled after just a handful of issues. So sad it took even that long. . It’s awful stuff. more

Thanks to Eduardo Pansica‘s guest art, this issue is much easier on the eyes than issues #1-4. He even manages to produce a few outstanding panels, especially those featuring Mal Chance. However, his apparent talent and knack for horror is wasted on this utterly braindead book. The story and dialogue are as stupid as ever.

My personal highlight is when Honey Badger, or whatever the nam e of this derivative character is, clarifies that all of this takes place on the astral plane, and then suggests to find their missing teachers by sniffing them out. On the spirit plane. Let that sink in for a minute.

The good thing about this series is that indeed it all takes place in their minds, so it will be easy to have them all wake up in issue #10 (I can’t believe we have to suffer through five more issues of this crap) and realise it was all just a bad dream.more

Matt fractions run on Batman has left me with really mixed feelings. This issue by itself isn’t bad despite the ending. However when you look at the series as a whole , how nothing fits. The start-stop nature of this series-I’m utterly frustrated. This series is just all over the map. What happened to the Joker and him calling Batman Bruce ? What happened to the Mayor and Pam with the Bat signal m ade from drones ? What about AI Alfred? The need to tell us about all the Bat-tech is gone also. Like I said. It’s the nature of this series when we see it as a whole. Start- stop. A disjointed mess of a series but a mid level issue. Just not good enough. Matt is stuck reintroducing things over and over because so much is left hanging around. The art is gorgeous at least. more

The Manga girl assassin seems to be a thing now. I really wonder what she’s representing in our collective psyche.

Besides that, this was not the most interesting issue, but still better than most of the bullshit that counts as comics these days.

What Tom King has done here is ruin a character. He kills Stewart. Violates and recreates rules and lore to fit his storyline that’s a mess. If he followed a flow or established rules. It would fall apart. Tom also skips around to the parts he wants to tell. Damned be a seamless story. Screw this book. This artist is wasted. Tom is dangerous to comics because someone may one day like this and r eplicate it. If you like WW. don’t buy this. If you like comics. Don’t buy this. more

Williamson and Mora continue to deliver a Fun and ridiculous book each month. This is why I read comics. I don’t want be preached too. I want fun and heroism. This book delivers it all. I hope when Clark does return we continue this story in a solo series with the same team. I’d buy that also. Bravo to these amazing talents who appear to be having a blast making this title. 10/10. This book is that good. more

- [ ] X-men outback #1. Look does this have just zero logic and huge flaws ? Yes. How the hell does Sabretooth just find them ? Then we are so chicken shit in writing we wipe his mind so no one knows this happened? Convenient no stakes storytelling by Steve Orlando . But at the same time is the best X-men story in recent memory. Great callbacks. Good action. It’s got a pulse in a dead franchis e . I’m taking what I can get. This wasn’t bad It’s certainly not Outback level good. By today’s awful putrid xmen titles It’s decent stuff despite the ass kissing of storm at epic levels. more

What a mixed bag. Actual heroics mixed in with hot trash storytelling. A magic potion to cure magneto that best had all along. Just happened to be carrying it with him? I’ve had enough of Jed on X-men. Where is this story going ? The science team lead by Beast. I just don’t care. I desperately want too I love the X-men but this series has been all over the map. It’s just not good. Was it bet ter than usual ? Even a broken clock is right. Do better marvel. Save the X-men. more

This is the most canceled at issue 10 looking series I've ever seen.

The good news: this is the best issue of X-Men United so far! The art has improved a little and there are a few snippets of dialogue that didn’t feel completely retarded.

The bad news: it’s still terrible.

No No No. this revision in history is insane and wrong. Joe , why are you doing this to these characters ? why is editorial allowing this ? enough of this crap. awful stuff.

we barely see the two face character and his anime esque design is awesome. most of this book is dope as hell. but its still just upper mid in the end. mostly because its not cohesive at all. a down issue for me from how good this series usually is and thats still an 8/10.

loved but the book. conquest vs battle beast. my biggest complaint with the book... it can't progress with any actual stakes. we know how each dies because we already saw how each of them die. so the stakes are limited. its just cool stuff. and im ok with that. However im really tired of the obsession with conquest. hes not that interesting to me. but when books are not that good this week... I' ll take this anyday. more

Gail must have been dared " write the worst X-men story ever." and she created this issue. this issue is all about dates aliens and dancing. Kurt is on a date, death dream on a date with a girl in a wheelchair. we get a goddamn dance number of Calico in the book. all of it. every page is painful and awful. What on earth is this ? We get one callback to graymulken prison with a lame brawl with the all powerful Monet, as she's releasing prisoners...yet beats them up? a brood warrior shows up at one point. This book is an epic disaster. The art barely has faces on it. most don't have noses and dots for eyes.its sketches and shows little effort. we end on the news of Weapon x-finity...where they want to make wolverines. NO. Yet again this issue and the series focuses on Gails awful characters. doing horribly lame things. in a plot that makes little sense in her usually throw it all at you style... and pray it makes sense in the end. it Never does. cancel the book Marvel. spare us this trash! more

Well this book debuts a “science team” lead by Beast. If that sounds interesting to you at all then we are very different people. We get no lead up, nothing to this storyline. It just happens as the details are revealed via exposition dumps that are a bore to read. Also we retcon and abandon Magnetos RLDS. Now it’s a disease from the future. Caused by …no clue , who? No clue! To what end? reaso ns we don’t know yet. Why he knew all about RLDS and whatever testing beast did to confirm it , all out the window. As Jed scrambles to move on from that stupid idea and it’s embarrassing to read it happening.
Most of the book is a word bubble party.
Then a kinda reveal at the end but who cares ? This book sucks. The white tiger lady with the big boobs is also really furries type trash. Cancel the book or remove the creative teams. This is the better of the 2 main X-men book and I’m still asking for it to be cancelled. more
