We get wildride pt 3. Featuring another part of the Gambit possession storyline. This time featuring yet another of Gail’s creations, the mutant exorcist Repent. How a mutant exorcist is even a thing idk but Gail creates new characters nonstop in hopes something will click with fans. Not much happens here. Just more of the same old bad story that continues to plague the book. It’s always a new cha racter and very little of the characters we actually care about. What little you see of those characters,like Wolverine they are just talking. Lurking in the background because we need to have more outliers or trauma dumps. If i had a dollar for every time someone cries in this book I’d have enough to buy marvel and fire Gail. Don’t read this book. It’s so bad. Gail’s last 3 storylines are whatever she watched on tv , featuring a jumbled mess full of new characters that aren’t memorable and add nothing . This wild ride storyline is no different. more

I really like this new story so far. it lays down some stakes early and they are big. Cale has real motivations for her actions and that adds some depth that I loved. the last arc was slow but this one starts off with a bang. It's nice to have Hayden back on art duties as Dillon Snook made really ugly Diana with a huge nose and long face. I look forward to whatever happens next. This absolute W W is one of the best titles in the Absolute line. more

Well here we are a few days after release. 3 issues in and not a single review from a critic and 1 user review. despite the book being somewhat fun in issue 1 and a slide on issue 2... issue 3 has exposed this books biggest flaw- what are the stakes? we had an outback era that was perfect and is my favorite X-men arc. injecting "untold parts of the story to fill in what little gaps there are" is n't needed and it comes off as such. Colossus painting landscapes only to have a necromancer named Yaga Dyara come after him is just unneeded.the villain IS AWFUL. I mentioned before the biggest flaw, each battle we know the x-men will win because we saw them in the actual run. for that reason none of these stories matter or have any stakes. the art on this issue is mid then slips into absolute trash the last few pages. its a shame. the book isn't awful but it just doesn't matter enough for people to care.looking at the coverage, no one does. more

Considering the X-Men are dead to the world, villains don’t seem to have much trouble finding them. First Sabretooth in issue 1, now this Yaga Something guy. Speaking of which, Orlando is pretty much ripping of the classic Uncanny X-Men 231, even naming his villain after the antagonist of that same issue, Baba Yaga. The two even look very similar. Now why would you do that, and even mention that v ery story, that, chronologically, happened shortly before this one? I really don’t know.

Now, it probably was meant to be a homage to Claremont and Leonardi’s tale, but it would have been more effective to create a follow-up to that story instead of a cheap and unimaginative repetition of the same themes and visuals, but without the depth.

Speaking of visuals, the art is pretty bad. The last page in particular has some of the laziest art I’ve seen in a while.

The question remains: why do we need this series? It contributes nothing new and exciting to the X-Men canon, quite the opposite: it adds forgettable, low quality 21st century filler slop to a beloved and masterfully executed run, that was already complete and perfect as it was.more

Well I called it. Jed is headed into the big DNX event. lots of build for 3K vs the Xmen, and what happens? we get a fight thats just a big nothing. there is no big confrontation here.just a few panels of a battle. we get a punt down the field . the Beast/ magneto angle is something we had seen so many times. its overplayed and boring...and thats the story of this issue. its a boring nothing. j ust set up for yet another event that probably wont matter. this isn't terrible. but its certainly not any good and if you skipped this issue you'd miss nothing other than Dark Beast stole Magnetos blood to make the X virus. which a blind man could see coming. its so disappointing but again Jed needed to stick the landing here. and he crashed and burned.

the series has had some great character work. The premise is solid. the Joan of arc stuff felt off to me last issue. I really enjoyed this one and im very interested in where this goes with 1 more issue to go.

Zub continues his epic run. One of the very best comic series ive ever read. this is tremendous stuff. this issue was so good.

Almost a perfect issue. We need more comics like this. Joshua Williamson is having fun and it shows. excellent stuff.

Kevin Smith cannot help himself and the lame outdated dialog and jokes overshadow what should be a home run for everyone on the book. instead it's a huge miss. We get small bits of cool moments but the bad well overshadows the good. I almost thought it was Deadpool dressed as Spider-man. RB silva is an amazing artist but even he cannot save the outwit annoying writing on this book. really bad stu ff. more

Cancel the book. look at the number of reviews. as of 8/21 i'm the only user review and I'll tell you... this book is dreadful. Saladin is writing this just like his Wolverine book. that means it's incomprehensible. Shard is awful. Bishop has become Cable more than his own character. don't buy this.

- [ ] Deathstroke #6 We get the ending of the first arc and what a story. Fun action packed. has real stakes. This is the best Deathtroke has been in many year. Tony Fleecs isn't my favorite writing but im eating crow. he nailed this one and shut me up big time. Carime killed it on art duties overall despite some inconsistencies on this issue. hats off and standing ovation on this first story arc .

If you came away with that feeling after this issue I'm jea lous of you because this issue was awful. Gail continues the Gambit possessed story so at least that is paid off from earlier issues. Just like most things in this X-men run ,its just bad. the fact that gambit has morphed into some type of dragon is beyond me. the fact that it was a fly last issue also makes little sense. This time we get attack on Titan inspired monster sentinels ? Idk anymore. I also don't care - something much of the industry seems to feel as well...just look at the number of reviews on this book. 3 from the usual shills. Gail is doing her best to try everything and anything on this book. new characters galore, sci-fi , possession, monsters ... nothing works. this new character Howler,who is just like every other character Gail makes, is overcome with trauma and abuse. Howler will be forgotten like her other creations They are all one note.
Save your money. wait for the relaunch of X-men in Dec. Luciano's art is mid at best.
Someone... Anyone... Please save the X-men. I heard that many people passed on writing these books and Gail on a steep decline In her career,said Yes. It's time for a change again.this isn't cutting it. more

I’m getting tired of Simone‘s only two themes - child abuse / safe space and demonic threats. As usual, Vecchio‘s art is a mixed bag - there are certainly worse artists at Marvel right now, but man, do I miss the old times when comic book artists knew what they were doing.

Re. MrNobody: if you had read all of my reviews, you would have noticed that there are Marvel titles I do enjoy, s uch as the Punisher. I would also prefer to rate the X-titles higher, and I have done so now and then (quite recently the Juggernaut issue of X-Men) but often I can’t, because they are crap.more

This book continues to shock and awe me. We come off a few down issues in a row and settle back to what is working. Aka the Scarecrow who is the best villain so far in the series. We get robin death , call backs to cool moments and Clayface framing Batman yet again as a killer. Where this book goes after this idk but I’ll be here waiting to buy it.
Great job on the art as well.

X-men United #6. I didnt buy it. But I did read in my LCS out of morbid curiosity. Eve L Ewings book has next to no reviews, as everyone has dropped off this total mess. This issue is cowritten by Evan Narcisse. The entire series has been under the premise that the team is interacting in Grey Matter Lane. Training mutants in a “Mind school”. This issue is the Xmen battling evil shadow versions of themselves during what was supposed to be a role playing game under ben Lius power. These Shadow versions seem to be all lead by Shuvahrak. That character hasn’t been seen in a single issue leading to this series or mentioned in this book once. They just appear with no build, and disappear just as fast for no reason. They literally are just gone. In between , we have story with Chelsea St. Juniors interacting with the now mentally sane Calico,Loolo and Loa. It’s pointless and awful. The art is something to really behold. On the page showing all the characters Ms. Marvel doesnt even have a face. And the art is among the worst ive ever seen on a professional book. Im so happy this series is canceled. And shockingly,it’s getting worse as it goes on as Eve becomes less invested in it. A 0/10. more

Both the writing and art are subpar. Eve Ewing doesn’t even seem to care about the logic of Graymatter Lane, but it doesn’t matter anyway, since it’s all nonsense.

Last issue we had a Juggernaut self reflection issue. This time it's Beasts turn. Jed must be feeling emo or /and most likely the case- He is stalling to build some stakes and tell as much back story as possible headed into the big battle with 3K. I do care about Beast and his talk with Magik has its moments But it's a boring issue at times. I'm happy that it at least is fleshing out these charac ters more but Jed has to nail the landing here. 3K has been on and off in the entire series going on 35 issues. The Anomaly ,Age of revelation, Danger room, X-manhunt all sucked and we had a battle with 3k already in issues 16 and 17.That battle sucked as well.So this is Jed laying all his cards on the table here. If this isn't an all out battle , and just another continued skirmish its over for this book. Aside from Woe is me Beast we end on what promises to be some action. Can Jed nail the landing here having built up 3K for most of this series ? my opinion-Doubtful. The art by Tony Daniel is once again completely uninspired, He doesn't get much to do in this script. more

Uncanny X-men …here comes the final rant. Gail hyped this issue up on her Facebook page. Here is Gail in her own words. “ Just saying, if you have been away from UNCANNY X-MEN for a bit, today is the day to jump back on board. It's a new arc, and some important new characters are involved, and I can't say more but this is a good jumping back-on point and this story REALLY goes bananas.Gambi t needs an exorcist.And the one Rogue found might not be working on the side of the angels!Plus, NEXT issue, it's the first appearance of...well, that would be telling.The last time I did a message like this was the debut of the uber-popular MUTINA, so just saying, it's a GOOD JUMPING ON POINT.” What I read this week was such a jumbled mess full of unexplained nonsense I thought I missed 2-3 issues. Rogue brings the possessed Gambit to Gabriel the demon hunter who I recall from old 70s marvel comics. How he knows Rogue, no idea. Never explained. Calico all issue displays bizarre trauma. Which necessitates her teammates hugging her ? Apparently gambit used to do this ? Why is someone so insane on the X-men ? Last issue she was dancing with her lesbian lover. This issue …in the fetal position needing to be coddled. The person to do it is Someone she’s never met or been introduced too…. Also someone who is just here for reasons. Quicksilver. it doesn’t go as planned as she tries to kill him. Oh and the Gambit possession. Turns out it’s a fly demon. That’s the issue. Just stuff. The big reset for Gail. No explanations. Just bullshit. I’m done. Uncanny has been dropped. A collector since Giant size #1 which I bought at 8 years old in 1989 for $110. I saved for a full year doing chores. Back then I was so excited to see Wolverine and the team. Now I’m 44 and I despise the book. I’m gone. more

a major title like ASM and not a single user review. and its Sunday! thats insane. well ill tell you my thoughts. Joe Kelly is writing an angry jealous childlike Peter who is very unlikeable. in fact this issue Peter is just a nasty sad sack for much of it. IDK where this Cormac stuff is going but just look at the stars of the issue on the opening pages. who are these losers ? Joe needs to fix this story and go someplace and not rush to an awful ending like the last storyline. Ed's art is fantastic and elevates the book to a 6 for me. but story alone- this is a 3. more
