Wow. this issue is just literally a balls to the wall battle. for $5.99 for a huge battle thats been built for 25 issues... better deliver and yeah it really does. Its as simple as this. Batman goes into the Jokers home and despite his friends gallery now maybe foes? trying to intervene hes going to fight Joker.
Fight they do and the Joker is insanely hideous and massive. How Batman is eve r going to win, who knows. but thats cool because he doesnt lol. we get awesome battle though and I wanted more. Scott knows how to build tension and like always... make you want the next issue!! and after the cliff hanger we get at the end of this one... Daddy Batman is going to be doing Absolute child support... cool stuff. fun as hell read and that is what I want from comics. make me think a little but I just want to have fun. and this issue has that in spades. in fact its well worth $5.99. now we gotta wait until January to get our next fix! more

utter perfection. amazing character work. when you read the last 3 issues they read as just a man losing his sanity. the emotional ride on display this issue is almost too much to bear. you feel so much for Simon. just masterfully done. bravo to this creative team.

Here is what writer Gail said about it on Facebook Okay, WILD RIDE is over, this issue, UNCANNY X-MEN #37, out today, starts the harrowing epic battle story of SOUL DEEP.So excited for this story. Some really deep impact stuff and a TON of action and lust and more.A LOT of things are coming in this one, and this issue is drawn by the incredible Juan Frigeri, so hot it should be illegal!This is the place to jump on, new X-readers! So what did we get this issue? We get an issue so bad Gail Simone can now be used as a synonym for “terrible” As best I can tell and keep in mind I read this issue 2 times, the x-men just took down and murdered a mutant child trafficking ring. Gambit and Rogue are relaxing and banging which heals his massive chest wounds with no scar. Wolverine is keeping watch of the team who are all tired. And Gaunt shows up for no reason after she freed a bunch of weapon x clones in Hanes underwear who were strapped to a wall. she wants to fight wolverine. How she found him, why, no clue .Shes beaten him in 2-3 panels last time.not this time. Then the underwear mutants attack the team. the names curare, Polyphemus, and Pilot. Why did they form a team? why do they work for Gaunt? is the Lab chasing after them at all? Why does any of this happen? Because Gail has no story.if you recall last story was a Jumping on point for new readers. She does this nonstop now in a cry for sales. Gaunt calls the team Scavaged and says shell be back in 7 days. Please read the dialogue in the last few pages with Rogue and Gambit. Its atrocious and reads like a cheap b movie. At least the art is better from Juan. the story still sucks. things just happen. Someone. anyone. Please save the x-men. more

PKJ is writing his ass off with Infernal Hulk. Its really long form story telling dating back to his previous Hulk series. Its really good and hitting home run after home run. This issue doesn’t rise to the heights of Wolverine vs Infernal Hulk but its up there. The plot is interesting. We get Reed who discovered the immaculate engine and a special tree. but Hulk cuts the power to stop them. an d a balls to the wall battle ensues. Buy this. you won't regret it. more

If you read Eddie as Carnage during that awful Spiderman Death spiral event then you'll think like I did , who the hell is this Eddie Brock? how is he out of Jail. why is he so Feral and angry. Didnt venom renounced him 20 times with it was with MJ? hand wave it away thats modern Marvel. its fine because this is the current state of Marvel comics. this issue really just establishes Eddie in his new /old role. same old same old but with more edge because why not. its ok. good art. ill be curious to see where this goes. overall. not bad if you just accept it for what it is, not why it makes no sense. more

another Wolverine story taking place in the past which eliminates any stakes. However Ahmed is doing the devils work on the solo wolverine title putting out absolute trash ... so ill take this with open arms. Panosian has a good grasp of the character and the setting of the book. Its actually really fun to read. The retro setting and art /color makes the book stand out. the cover is bad ass als o. im not in love with the book but yeah best wolverine anything besides infernal hulk vs Wolverine. I'll be coming back for issue 2. more

DNX has been the best event so far in this relaunch of x-men. Before you think oh you bash xmen each week did you change your tune ? No. This book is the least gross turd, but it’s still a stinky turd. It’s just so by the numbers. When Ben creates the literal squid machines from the Matrix I rolled my eyes and laughed. Something you’d never do after reading Mutant massacre or x Tinction agenda i s roll your eyes and laugh but this is the state of modern X-men. The best part of the book is -spoiler- Magneto is restored by reed Richards to full power. Now we no longer have to see a shriveled up old man in a hover chair wearing a helmet just sulking in the background while everyone mouths off to him. We just move on by whoever made him sick or how he was misdiagnosed because reasons. Jed is leagues better than Gayle but he still sucks which is why I say it’s the least stinky turd.

Jed is getting ready to wrap up this mid storyline and then looking at the solicitations, we get Jean Grey back. Jed is also writing her mini series which I’m going to say once again , will be better than the putrid work done by Stephanie Philips but that’s not high praise. This issue remains just ehhhh and I cannot stand the manga style art. Just awful.
We still have 5 more issues of this event. Ugh. more

I really liked this first issue and I also really like western anything and Jonah Hex. Cool character and an interesting story.The best title I read all week in a pretty decent week of books.

The second best of the midnight books and the best Xmen title currently being written. The characters are interesting. the world seems huge and full of interesting factions. I feel like we did this same exact stuff in the Ultimate Wolverine and Avengers but its fine. I have one main issue with the series and its not currently present. its the name on the book. Jonathan Hickman starts everythin g and always leaves. its my perpetual issue with him. and the books suffer each time he does it. I hope he stays. I hope he can remain way more focused on main characters than he did on Ultimate Spiderman which had little to no Spiderman. Hickman is talented and this artist Matteo Della Fonte is terrific. I hope this keeps up. more

I expected the worst from Midnight X-Men, but it turned out to be the one of the three Midnight #1s I enjoyed the most. Storywise, we're already knee deep into the intrigue and mystery. Surprisingly, it all feels quite character-driven, which doesn't happen often in a Hickman book.
The art is very realistic and fits the vibe of a horror soap opera.

My only complaint is the one I ha ve about the Midnight books in general: why another universe? Why not try to make the original X-Men, FF, and Spider-Man great again, since all of them currently suck. Seriously, this book may be perfectly written and drawn, but in the end it's just a "what if" story.

So, I will definitely read the next few issues, because the story looks interesting enough, but I will never care about Vampire Queen Storm or Bishop Wagner like I do about the Ororo Munroe and Kurt Wagner of the 616 Marvel universe.more

Besides Jonah Hex , this was the best book I read all week. Ben Percy on writing duties and Kev Walker on art. This is a quick read. the 40 pages blew by and this read like a classic horror title. im all in on the title. if you pick up one Midnight title. its this one.

It was a bold move for Marvel to put a Manga artist on this book, one that is drawing in a very sketchy, loose style to boot. Unfortunately, the result doesn’t work at all. Whenever there’s a hint of horror, the cutesy anime eyes take me out of it. The pale coloring, another bold but bad decision, makes the line art, if one could call it that, look even more unfinished. Marvel probably aimed for a unique, atmospheric look here, but it just flooks flat and lazy.

I also wasn’t blown away by what little story there is. As a matter of fact, I felt nothing while reading it, probably because of the art.

All in all, Midnight Spider-Man #1 is a huge disappointment. It’s a shame, because the concept is great and probably could have worked quite well with a different artist. I give Marvel credit for trying to create something that’s different, but the result is a misstep that could have been avoided easily.more

its time for Marvel to take their shot at the darker universe that DC is dong with Absolute. perhaps the most important character to make work... Spiderman. and the book is a slow build. Not much happens in the issue. The art is ...odd. IDK why we have Manga but perhaps to have some juxtaposition when the book goes full horror with dead animals and Ben. I really like PKJ and his writing style. I hope this one pays off as its the weaker of the 3 titles released. But its still good and im into it. more

We get it Matt. Billionaires Bad. Criminals who steal from them Good. such retarded logic.
But on to Batman- Well Batman is searching a cave looking for Mr Freeze and his wife who like all things in comics is just another equally as powerful version of him. all that happened in Rebirth and it was pretty terrible stuff. so why not drag these characters into this equally lame Poison Ivy story line that just wont end. Pausing the massive number of storylines that were finally beginning to pay off in Issue #12. nope Minotaur Joker. ninjas. Ooo. all of it on pause as if they weren't happening.
Back to this issue. lots of talking with Verity and Batman as she stops robbers and he looks for the freeze couple and asks for their help. thats it. Nothing really happens in this issue. but its not terrible. its just kinda mid. gone is the talent of Jorge Jimenez and we get Matteo who isn't 1/2 bad on art duties. This site lists Dan waters as a co writer which isn't true . Only Matt Fraction would write something this mid. more

Catching up on this book and was semi interested into seeing what the have done with DNX so far. Last we left the team was battling over PA and ready to unleash the virus. however the FF come in to help out the X-men. Well. I didnt seem to miss much . lets talk DNX if you just read Xmen and I know its a crossover but humor me.
Issue #35 was the DNX prologue on the headdress. we get a Beas t talking to Dark Beast issue. No action. literally just a Beast exposition dump and self reflection as he's consoled by Magik.
Issue #36 Another headdress with Prologue. Its Magneto and Dark Beast talking and 8 pages of action but mostly its talking and Beast trying to recruit Magneto with offers of curing him.
Issue #37 is all action but its a recap of the fight that wasn't show between Quentin and Cassandra Nova. No story progression. at all.
which brings me to issue #38. MORE TALKING. this is an its a wonderful life with Magento and Charles. Zero story progression and filler. So I ask you, looking at the DNX storyline from someone who just buys adjective -less X-men, $15 deep. has anything happened? no. This title has art that is plummeting into the toilet by Tony Daniel because this dude doesn’t even care. btw this site lists Tony as the writer and Netho as the artist. Id argue both are doing some of the worst in their careers on this series. Jed Gail Eve these are the writers of X-men. You can read this nothing bore fest of a book, Gailes Gambit as a dragon full of characters no one cares about , or Eves mess of a X-men book that is so bad , she even quit writing it and has a Co writer just as talentless as she is.
The state of the x books is beyond alarming.

Kelly Continues to deliver compelling character work with Absolute Diana. Something that is desperately missing from Tom Kings run of filth. This is the Diana we need. We get stakes that are awesome and its building to something big for Diana. This series had had some ups and downs but im here for it.

this issue features a lot of stuff. a battle with scarecrow ,Batgirl, set up vs Joker, Batman and his Mom... its stuffed to the max. Scott pushes the pace and has a sort of ADHD type of story telling that I guess you need in 2026 comics. its a little much for me but I can see the appeal. How cool was Big dumb Batman crucifying Scarecrow at the end? its just cool moments that keep this crazy bo ok appealing. Scott sells lots of Batman book and hes put DC back on the map so the formula works.
Good stuff with Nick doing art duties. This duo is putting out amazing work.Fun issue overall. more

This Infernal Hulk storyline has been an interesting read overall. Mixing Hulk with Lovecraft type story is a change not many thought could work. For me, it’s something interesting and new for the big Green Guy. PKJ does his best work when hes having fun with Hulk and this issue is just that. Wolverine dropped in to investigate the missing mutants results in a bloody gore filled battle that I l oved. More like this Marvel! the ending was a little weak but will I be reading the rest of these "infernal Hulk vs " books... if they are anything like this issue- Yes. more

well the first 6 issues were really fun. This issue is I guess a slowdown and reset. Its a bit of a let down. IDC about Adeline one bit. More Slade please and less of this nonsense.
