Goners is the kind of comic that I could see translate easily into a weekly TV show. These first six issues are basically the pilot. Granted, the things that Jacob Semahn and Jorge Corona packed this with would require an astronomical budget to produce. It's as much an homage to the kid in all of us. I used to wrap a towel (against my mother's wishes) around my neck and hold a broomstick like a sword slaying imaginary dragons or wielding a stick like a lightsaber defeating the dark side. Semahn and company tap into our subconscious and take us back to our younger selves before the weight of the world squeezed out any childlike wonder from our souls. One of the highlights ofGonersasa series is that Jacob Semahnand Jorge Corona remember how kids talkand reactat differentages. Semahn putsubtle touchesin Josiahand Zoe's dialogue with words like “stupider” reminding me of arguments with my siblings even if their situation is definitely more high stakes.Goners#6 is the final stages of the crucible that Josiahand Zoe have struggled through in thisarc,and Semahn ties up the threads of the Latimers' past with who theyare in the present to createa grand crescendo.Gonersisa coming ofage story, but with supernatural intrigue, badass monsters,and just enough gore and chills to make horror fans smile. Image Comics can't do wrong. By giving creators a space to tell their own stories gives readers an assorted variety of titles and genres to pick from. Sometimes it seems like a daunting task to try to keep up with every Image series. Goners may be one of those series that readers overlooked or judged it by its appearance. Yet, Goners isn't a one note series, it has elements of every genre rolled into its narrative. Whether this is the end of the Latimer's tale or just the start of a new series, this run of Goners was a whole lot of fun to read. Read Full Review
