SERIES FINALE
It's blood, tears, and chaos as Hark finally uncovers the truth behind Ivy Chen's disappearance and how it relates to his surrogate family, in the tense finale to one of the year's most critically acclaimed hit books.
"Could not feel more timely these days." -Entertainment Weekly
A satisfying conclusion to what has been a wonderful story with a lot of fantastic plot twists. I'd love to see The Good Asian adapted to film or television as it is definitely something that I'd watch. If Pichetshote were allowed control of how it was adapted to screen. Read Full Review
'The Good Asian' ultimately tells an absorbing, sobering story about deception, desire, and madness. The fact that it takes place during one of the ugliest periods in this country only highlights the stakes for most of the characters involved. It's a landmark publication in historical fiction, crime thriller, murder mystery, and noir drama. It should be studied and read by all who value graphic storytelling. 'The Good Asian' caps off a series that is simply one of the best comics of the year if not ever. Read Full Review
This is a comic that you're going to see in classroom's one day, at least if I had my way. This is a comic that you should buy in singles, and trades, and the fancy hard cover full collections. This is a comic that is so brilliantly executed on a writing and artistic front. Its very core is rooted in the complicated struggle of being an Asian American to the point that even though it's set in 1936, it speaks to 2022 so perfectly. I'm excited to see the next Edison Hark adventure and I think overall The Good Asian was one of the better noir comics we've had in quite sometime. Read Full Review
The ending isn't quite the thrill ride the rest of the story is, but as someone who loves noir detective stories, I can confirm that that's true of 90% of the classics of the genre — the dinner party is no one's favorite part of The Thin Man, and Raymond Chandler was notoriously dodgy at remembering even which mysteries were supposed to be solved in the end. Overall, this series was a joy, the conclusion is satisfyingly tidy, and "Edison Hark will return" were just the words I was hoping to hear
I will come back and possibly regrade after rereading the series but, for now I'll leave it as ok. The series had moments of greatness but, was very convoluted overall.
