Overall Flash Gordon #5 is more of the same which is by no means a bad thing. Plot-wise it is not much more than your standard rescue misuse with some fun action while taking some time to further build up these characters. If you are looking for the classic serial adventure you would normally get with a Saturday Morning Cartoon just aged up a bit this will give you exactly what you are looking for. Read Full Review
There is nothing new or creative per say about this issue. That being said I love the intro of Doctor Zarkov. Oh that was great!
What I mean to say is that this issue gets my 8.5 because it is just well done. It is well drawn, it is full of action, Ming gets beat up (always a plus), and we have a nail biting escape. Enemies and allies are really blurred here and for a Flash Gordon adventure of escape, its just the way I want it.
Go creative team, go!
