Geeked Out Nation - Ian Yoxon Apr 9, 2014

All in all this comic is a must read. It's a first issue so new readers can get into it. There may be just a little confusion because again, this is not a reboot. What happened in the last volume of the Ultimates does matter. Reading Cataclysm and getting caught up on the last few issues of Ultimate Spider-Man would help to fully get everything. In the end, this issue is a good start at a series featuring a new generation of Ultimates. Like the book says, “Bound by the darker side of corporate scientific misconduct, these powerful underdogs are unified by a mission to make their city, and the world, a safer place”, and I believe that it will be that bond that will be the driving force behind the story and the characters as time goes on. To it seems that that quote is synonymous with “With great power, comes great responsibility” and that will be what makes this series whole in the long run. Read Full Review

Do I like it? A whole lot. It takes a bit of getting used to at first, but Michel Fiffe gives each character a defined voice. Do I love it? Not yet. It has some growing on me to do. I will say, once I figured out the premise and the plan and the idea that was being presented, I liked it a lot more than when I started reading and just didn't know what to expect. Read Full Review

Multiversity Comics - James Johnston Apr 10, 2014

Still, "All-New Ultimates" signifies a breath of fresh air that the Ultimate Universe has desperately needed. It's not perfect; though the art is great and the characters are sharp, the pacing and tightness of the plot loses itself at points. If you wanted to get into the Ultimate Universe for the first time, it might also not be your first choice considering the lack of exposition it gives to All-New readers. In spite of that, "All-New Ultimates" is a fun, visceral read that's brought down by an at-times murky plot. Read Full Review

All New Ultimates works as a solid first issue of the series that successfully juggles many storylines and characters, but the art leaves something to be desired. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Jordan Richards Apr 9, 2014

All-New Ultimates #1 is an okay first issue; while it does what most good first issues should do, it still doesn't feel like introduces the audience well enough to this world (old fans should have no problem with that though) and the writing just feels rather average and typical. Hopefully as time goes on, this series finds its legs and really takes off. Read Full Review

Look, I don't want to be be negative about this book because of all the new “All-New Marvel NOW!” titles Marvel have publishing this year this was definitely in my top 3 most anticipated. Hopefully these issues will be ironed out for future installments. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jesse Schedeen Apr 10, 2014

Depending what you're looking for in All-New Ultimates #1, you may walk away disappointed. This is less a replacement for the classic Ultimates team and more an extension of Ultimate Spider-Man. But while this first issue is held back by some strange storytelling choices and a generally choppy script, at least it tries new things and doesn't come across as just another in a long line of teen superhero comics. It adheres to the promise of the Ultimate Universe being a home for new and unexpected kinds of stories. Read Full Review

Was All-New Ultimates enjoyable? Sure, it was interesting to see the start of another big chapter in the Ultimate Universe but its off to a bit of a shaky start. For those that know whats going on, or rather whats recently gone on, with the Ultimate U then you should be okay and hopes are high that the coming issues will be an improvement on this one. If youre new to the Ultimate U, its debatable what youll get out of this but its worth a shot if youre curious. Either way, heres hoping to a good follow up issue because this series, really, has a lot of potential that Id hate to see wasted. Read Full Review

"All-New Ultimates" is still an exciting concept, and one that many readers (myself included) were looking forward to -- especially after I saw that phenomenal Marquez and Sobreiro variant cover. Hopefully it will take better advantage of its promising premise in the issues to come. There is plenty to work with here, and there are glimpses of a great series in Issue #1. It's just not fully there yet. Read Full Review

Comic Vine - Mat 'Inferiorego' Elfring Apr 9, 2014

I had high expectations for this issue, but overall, it was a let down. The concept for the new book is fantastic, but the execution was a let down. The issue is not new reader friendly and not incredibly interesting to boot. The art is a bit clunky and characters are unrecognizable. This is a series I really want to be successful, but this first issue was a bit of a mess. Overall, I do not recommend this issue. Read Full Review

Nerds On The Rocks - Frank Fuentes Apr 10, 2014

In more ways than I described, All-New Ultimates completely missed the mark on delivering a good comic book. All the characters that appeared in this book didn't even appear to be affected by Cataclysm! This represents the best way I can sum up my review for this book: devoid of emotion. Read Full Review
