  Joe Kelly continues to balance superhero spectacle with character-driven intrigue, using both the action and the ongoing family revelations to build momentum towards the landmark Amazing Spider-Man #1000 and the mysteries that still lie ahead. The introduction of Peter’s newfound cousin continues to add an intriguing new dimension to his personal life, and I’m looking forward to seeing where Kelly takes the story in the next issue.   Amazing Spider-Man #33 keeps Joe Kelly's central mystery simmering while delivering plenty of superhero action and character-driven drama. Ed McGuinness once again proves he was made to draw Spider-Man, elevating even familiar action beats with energetic layouts and expressive performances. While the issue spends more time moving pieces into place than delivering major reveals, the growing unease surrounding Cormac Crane gives readers plenty to chew on.   Ed McGuinness, Mark Farmer & Marcio Menyz are all in charge of the artwork for this issue and it’s as outstanding as you would expect. It retains the familiar look fans will be used to, while packing an incredible punch in the action sequences. Without his role as Peter and his mask as Spider-Man, what is left of the man between? The work going into issue #1000 grows more and more mysterious by the day, alongside a new sense of intrigue.
